Julio Cesar Pereira ...set the words per minute to equal (as close as you can) to the speed of the other station’s CW speed. Also, use a narrower filter to cut down on background noise. Finally, adjust the decode sensitivity using the VFO B ( small knob).

@@GhostRider1974 My hope was to find a video that tells how to set the sensitivity. I also am having trouble getting the Decode to work. I get maybe 2 out of 3 letters and then a few extra and a few wrong. Any hints?

Allen...be sure you set the words per minute close to the speed of the code being sent, then assure the signal is within the decode bandwidth. Adjust level with the aux VFO knob (the small one) to filter out false decodes. Use narrow band filter width to reduce the background noise. 73!

step by step ! i see you got lvl 20 up there on the screen along with a af-… and when i flip through the scope button,i do not get the cw decode window coming up like you do….so what are all the steps from ie a fresh start on the radio ?

FUNKY65TOWN ...Indeed, I haven’t had any trouble with it. The only annoying thing about it is that you have to switch the radio menu setting for CAT control from USB to RS232 if you using computer control or digital modes to run a tune cycle.

Does this stop working once you connect the radio with USB lead, as it worked as described in your video, but now i have connected USB to PC to use a SDR as a Pan adapter the pressing of the SCOPE button just gives me a double beep from the radio.

Howdy...I have a USB connected to a computer as well for FT8; this does not stop the decode function. It may have something to do with your SDR setup. 73

Very good, my 3000 came with the 300hz CW filter, should I set the r.flt down to 300?

MMX2 ...should work with that or the 600 Hz filter fine.

On the display screen near the right display shows "LVL 20". can you explain its use and adjustment?

Yessir. That is like a squelch level for the CW decode function. It is adjusted with the small VFO B knob to the right-side of the radio. If this is set too low, the band noise will cause false decodes as it interferes with the received signal. Setting this higher allows more reliable decoding. Setting too high will cause the radio to filter out too much of the actual received signal. Thanks for the Q and 73!

Hi can you still plug a key in and send Cw and use the radio's decoder to rx or is it just for swl?

A local ham is selling one of these for $1400 at the moment. I’m thinking of getting either that or an FT991a. Either one would be great to have.

The FTDX3000 is a solid HF/6m transceiver that has the same RX hardware / circuitry as the much more expensive FTDX5000. I would think that price is fair. The 991a is also a great rig and is an all-mode rig adding 2m and 70 cm and C4FM Fusion capabilities... I know several that have those and really like them. I like to monitor 2m / 70 cm repeaters on a separate radio while working HF, so having a single all-mode rig wasn't my primary choice.

I don’t think it is limited to the amateur bands since it is based on the received signal.
