where did you get the thrust bearing unit and the 100' of cable for the control unit
@tglenn31212 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. So, if I understand you correctly, in order to 'aim' the antenna to the W (west), you are forced to go clockwise all the way around till it gets to the west? No, offense to you, but that's sort of a bad design flaw on Yaesu's part.
@HamRadioCrashCourse2 жыл бұрын
It's actually a pretty simple reason... The Coax. It has to wrap. Over turning the rotor would end up with damage to coax, rotor or antenna.

Thanks for the video. I found the instructions to be straight forward, but it doesn't hurt to watch someone else demonstrate.

Very informative I’m sure, but the split screen is too confusing.

Hey Josh, Hope your still checking these comments. Which thrust bearing is that you are showing at 29:00? Thanks

Thanks for this video. I just purchased a G-450A and it was useful to make sure I was doing it right when I calibrated mine. (Like you have to have the power On when using the rear adjustment potentiometers ;-) ). Good channel, especially short focused videos like this. Next step is to put up the Hexbeam my G-450 will be turning! 73

How is fully automating contacts actually making contacts, that doesn't seem in the spirit of Amateur Radio.
@HamRadioCrashCourse6 жыл бұрын
It’s semi-fully automatic. 🤣

@@HamRadioCrashCourse In what way? During this video you weren't doing anything with the computer to make it semi.

Love your channel.. crazy question. The baofeng bf f8 hp, out of the box will it pick up anything or does it have to be programmed with CHIRP ???
@HamRadioCrashCourse6 жыл бұрын
It comes randomly programmed, it needs to be programmed manually or through CHIRP.

I would think they would include a short length of cable for bench testing with with 8 pin connectors.

Hope you don't have high winds... that is a LOT of antenna for that little rotor! A G800 would have been a better choice! And that boot just traps water in the connector! Trust me! Last rotor I installed I had to move to the tower with a 2 wheel cart! Alpha Spid Big RAS that is 51 pounds...
@HamRadioCrashCourse6 жыл бұрын
The hex beam is only 1.5 lbs of wind load? I asked the manufacturer of the antenna and they recommend the 450.

@@HamRadioCrashCourse So, it has been at least 2 years? How has the Hexbeam and Yaesu rotor been for you? I just received K4KIO hexbeam and G450a rotor. Painted, not yet installed. I was told the thrust bearing was not necessary since my mast is 2 inch diameter. The thrust bearing itself actually has a much smaller bearing area than the rotator. I will have 7 feet of galvanized steel tubing coming out of the top of the Universal tower. The G450 will be 18 inches below inside the tower.

Bad format...looking to learn something... your just to cool for me, kids playing, working FT8, explaining rotator (kind of) .... adjusting different rigs......When you instruct as you have done in previous videos , your personable and have a good delivery ...not this time
@HamRadioCrashCourse4 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it fair to assume all video will be the format your prefer. That is just not logical for the audience out there.
