The situation around Hanoi has calmed down and is mostly in the clean up phase now. Some parts if the city still have a little flooding, but nothing that will impede you. Unfortunately the provinces in the north are having a tough time, so avoid Yen Bai, Lao Cai, and Phu Tho provinces for the immediate future

Thanks for the update. I'm flying in on Sunday for a visa run from Thailand, should I just take an airport hotel and the next flight back, or would it make sense to stay few nights?

I would suggest just keeping an eye on the news, if the river doesn't break today, it likely won't at all, and we are not being told that it will. Go ahead and go into the city, there is nothing fun immediately around the airport and being soggy is a part of the experience. Just remember to wash your feet if you walk in flood water (but you probably know this if you live in Thailand). Have fun and enjoy the city!

Hi, thanks for the informative video. I am flying in with family on Monday for a week holiday from Chiang Mai (great timing I know!) Do you think the water will recede to a manageable level by then? Thanks

I do think so, but there is a long history of rivers just doing what they want so keep an eye on the news just in case. If it breaks over An Duong Vuong or Au Co it will be a very, very big deal and all the local news will be able to talk about. The chances are that by the time you make it here, there will be some flooded patches speckled throughout the city, but nothing that will prevent you from enjoying it. There will probably also be s lot of fallen trees yet to be cut up and removed, but those are no harm to anyone. We hope your family enjoy your trip!

Hii im planning my vacation from 29th sept..is it safe now to travel to hanoi, da nang and sapa?
@MandutheGuideDog3 ай бұрын
Hanoi and Da Nang are definitely safe, Hanoi still has a lot of fallen trees to clean up, but that's it. Sapa should also be fine, but a lot of roads have been damaged by landslides caused by the storm, so it will likely take longer to get up there than normal, but the route will be handled by whoever you book your bus ticket through, it should be just fine, have fun!
