That is some hard hitting. Does your mix engineer ever ask you to play lighter? Especially cymbal crashes? What is your experience?

Yes , my whole life engineers have asked me to play softer. I hated it but I learned how to control my dynamics and play energetic without it hitting hard. I’m really not hitting the cymbals as hard as you would think, I haven’t broken a cymbal in about 8 years. Because I do audio engineering myself I know what it’s like to have to deal with cymbals being too loud so I will always ask the FOH engineer if my volume is okay and I will adjust based on their answer.
