When I put an anchor trolley on my kayak I made the mistake of not allowing enough slack in my rope and when it got wet and dried the rope tightened up and I had to cut it and and tie it back so it would slide easy. It was like a guitar string. Thanks for sharing the video

I never gave that a thought! Thanks for watching.

It helped to watch it be put on. The instruction were in paragraphs and no diagrams. Thanks dude!

Thank you for showing a demo, one thing i suggest though is to not tie your anchor to that ring. Instead put the line through the ring and tie it to a rigging close to you with a slipknot. This way if you get a strong wind or funny current and the anchor puts you in danger of tipping you can quickly untie it and just use a noodle as a float on the line of your anchor so you can retrieve it after regaining stability and removing yourself from danger.

I am so glad I found this video I have the same one as you and I was thinking I was going to have to use it on my canoe instead of my kayak thank you so much I have got just about everything for it just waiting for payday to get the kayak
@crankbait095 жыл бұрын
thanks for the video. the knot that you tied at the tie off ring/triangle, the one that allowed you to adjust the tension in the line. What type of knot was that? That was very easy to slide frontward and back to adjust the slack in line. very nifty!

Thanks for the video. Very informative. I bought my kayak with the system and I wondered what that that funny plastic (cleat --tie down) thing was for. I need to move mine too. My fingers hit it while paddling sometimes. One time is enough.

+David Bane yep I learned real quick that I needed to move it. Thanks for watching!

I notice that you put your pulleys just above the gunwale angle which I agree is about 3 in below deck level. I wonder if you had any issues with that? I mention because I did mine the same way you did and then later I noticed an instructional vid by yak gear and the guy made a point to say put the pulleys below the gunwale so the line doesn’t get up in the way. You followed the directions while the yak gear guy didn’t reference 3in below deck level like the instructions say. Just wondering if you had any issues.

Thanks for reaching out. I havent had any problems with the current location but I havent used it nearly as much as I want. I guess it could be an issue in certain situations but so far it has managed to work alright.

Did you end up putting any silicone
@Johnsplots2 жыл бұрын
I don't believe I did
@johnkoci40003 жыл бұрын
I am not sure why you would not put the pulleys as far out as possible. You want to dangle from point to point (Bow or stern). I recommend the yakattack leverlok. Nicer than this. $35.

I believe all the hardware should be a couple inches lower just below the gunnel so the cord is not popping up above the cleat. Works as presented, but could work better.

dude hell yea. love your video. straight to the point. made it look so dam easy that i feel confident doing the same to mine. quick question what's that blue gunk that you put on the screws for the pad eye.
@Johnsplots8 жыл бұрын
+reubenmtz it was blue rtv. Same as silicone. Thanks for watching!! One side note, don't put that cleat where I put it, my hand hit it a few times so I had to move it back a bit.

ok so how about the placement of the cleat? is it in the way when you are paddling? i am essentially doing the same thing you are but am concerned the cleat will be in the way when i am really paddling hard. thoughts?
@Johnsplots8 жыл бұрын
I haven't had any problems with the cleat yet but I haven't paddled hard or anything. Maybe someone else can give some input.

+Dimes On His Eyes im moving the cleat about 18" aft. I did hit it with my finger twice on a ten mile trip the other day.
@dimesonhiseyes91348 жыл бұрын
I have used my set up a few times now and it has worked great except one thing. I keep pulling out the well nuts on the aft of the kayak. It seems the plastic is slightly thicker in the back so I need to get a couple slightly longer but still the same diameter. Not that big of a deal but I still have to moniter it quite a bit.
