New fan of your channel. I am so excited to start fishing open water in our area. Ready for sunshine and warm weather, but not this week. Thanks for posting on the KZbin and hope to see you out there. Keep up the good work; they are still shallow. Tight lines!

Thanks for the vid, good job. I am upgrading my 10 year old Lowrance to a new one, have side imaging, and thus the transducer must be in the water . Previously I went through the hull using plubers putty in place of a glue type product. Worked great. My newer kayak is a Vibe Seaghost 130 . I don't like the idea of a transducer over the side... and although there is/are plastic protector mounts for the side screen transducers.. a little scary thinking I could still bust one up and +$250 to replace it. So over the side mount may be my option. The Vibe kayaks do have an "in the hull" mount for a "bullet" or "splitshot" transducer.. the "tripleshot" side imaging transducer still must be exposed.. oh well. The only "protector" plate available cost $65.. and is just a 3mm thick plastic piece. Maybe I can make a PVC protector eventually. btw... I fish on the Chesapeake Bay.

I've never fished Tahoe before but hoping to this year. And your about the only guy up there posting videos. Wasnt sure if I would need that small downrigger on my kayak or if the lead core line that you use gets you down well enough on its own?
@TahoeYakFisher5 жыл бұрын
I get down 110ish feet with 10 colors of 18lb. lead core by letting the braid backing run, works well for me though I have never used a down rigger, always seemed a bit much for me to manage.
@justinhardy93275 жыл бұрын
it's own? I wasnt sure. It would be quite a bit going on with the limited room we already have on a kayak. I'll probably go the lead core route. And trolling all together I'm new to so its definitely going to be a learning experience. And thanks for the reply! And keep the videos coming. Well once you get some decent weather.

YakFisher nice one I like your yak looks good. I also use the transducer arm (by Scotty) and I have also feared it will be too far from me hence I need to paddle so must put it far enough not to hit it with the paddle. Eventually I got the distance right. I was wondering how you can relay on the trolling holder you mounted on your crate. Is it strong enough for trolling? plus getting a hit from a fish? Usually trolling should be inside a flash mounts which are way more stable.
@TahoeYakFisher5 жыл бұрын
The Cannon base is bolted to the crate and the crate is held by the tank well bungie in three places, caught lots of fish from it and never had an issue. Obviously I do grab the rod as soon as the drag goes, but it's super solid.

Hey! How's the transducer arm holding up? People have been complaining that with bigger transducers, the joints move too much when trolling. Any thoughts?
@TahoeYakFisher3 жыл бұрын
Oscillating was never a problem for me but the hook 4 transducer isn't very big and I removed one of the legs so, ya. I think it might flex all over the place with all 3 sections of the arm and a big side scan kinda transducer.

The joints can be tighten

@@george62284 I think its a great product, I also think this plastic durometer combined with all three sections and a "big" transducer "might" be a bad combo.

@@TahoeYakFisher I am having the same problem with my HDS live transducer. When i troll or hit serious current, the arm just makes it way to the surface... what a joke, and useless. Have you found a remedy or suitable replacement?
