I also talk about the box in this video below as well. I think it the best way to transport rods/reels & a whole bunch more. It’s weird as it feels like it’s flimsy but it won’t break. I guess they try to keep it light as possible. I do feel the hinged part could be better for the price but once again it doesn’t break. I just like things heavy duty. But would it over and over again. I know there is another rod box coming out down the road by someone else but it’s still in the design stage. Do you think a pair of skis can fit in here as well? Are the cross bars for the rod support removable? I know the length will be fine for skis but unsure on height with bindings, etc.

Yes you can remove the rod holders as they send you the tools and plugs to do so. This way if you want to use the box as strictly storage you can do so if you don’t fish. To be honest you might be able to slip the skis under the rod holders if you do both sports. Or simply remove and put back in when needed.

I carry 9 rods, with tackle warehouse neoprene rod socks, in mine. Have been doing this for 2 yrs with no problems. I also flipped the foam in cross bars to the flat side. I have 2 of these mounted on my Malone microsport trailer.

What about the rob tube? What are the pros and cons? Thanks for the video considering the box but the price is holding me back

Tube is good. Instead of hear me ramble for 15 minutes on a video I will sum it up. Pros -More secure in my opinion against theft. But I take all my rods with me anyways. -Half the price. I built it and painted it for $100, but I got the PVC for free. If you had to buy 8 inch PVC, paint & supplies and end caps with mount you are looking at $280-300. -You can paint it any color you want or get it vinyl wrapped CONS -You will need to alternate rods and reels to fit inside tube. You may be able to get 8 if more bait caster. -Will definitely need a reel wrap, rod wrap for protection as just inside a tube they will be thrown around. -If you do install lures you will also need a lure wrap so they don’t get tangles up. -Heavy I did a video on how I built it after I built it. Your welcome. Yea its tough right now. You would have to get from a plumbing supply and might have to purchase a 20 for length anyways. The box is nice for sure. I looked after i did the video and you can find now in the 600 range. Shop around. They were in the 700 range so who knows. They must have lowered price because people complained too much. You will be happy with it.

You can get lure keepers by themselves. Less time (and money. $15 for 4) they could be pulled off in a couple seconds and just drop them back into the bottom of the box

Hello buddy how's it going? That is a nice box man. I can agree with you on the price. But if it is an good box then I guess it's good. I hope you & your family are doing well. I am doing OK for right now. I am starting to do some walking now but the problem I have is my flip flops 🩴 are hurting my feet 🦶. It's my feet 🦶 that hurts. I walk barefooted 👣 & they will hurts so I know it's my feet 🦶 that the problem. I hopefully I will be able to handle some kayaking by June. You take it easy buddy. will this fit an 8ft rod without it hitting the metal plates at the end?

Yes. Inside plate to inside of the other plate is 96 & 1/4 inches. The plates are hard plastic not metal.

I ended up with Rod Pro-Tech rod sleeves and bait holders all in one. Plus my box is on my truck now and doesn’t bounce as much. Thank you for suggestion. I appreciate it.

@rjmfishtales For sure, I use the Cal coast one because I can keep my big treble hook baits in bait sacks on the kayak. Safety thing for me! Tight lines.
