A lot of the history sounds like the history of the Yak-9T with the 37mm. I thought the Yak-9K wasn’t used much outside of a small batch to test the new 45mm cannon :3

You're correct, my research resulted in the same information and that only a small amount of Yak-9Ks were actually produced. The Yak-9K was a modified subvariant of the Yak-9T, the Yak-9K's 45mm cannon reduced the flight performance heavily to the point where Yak-9Ks were assigned heavy fighter duties and actually had to be escorted by Yak 3s in case of failure. It saw limited production as German bombers decreased.
