I’ve actually used a similar rod back in Florida for surf casting..gets your bait over the surf into the ocean a lot better cause it’s so long and flimsy,great videos though really enjoy watching them

tip when using the long rod point the rod to the side on the retrieve it puts more tension on the line keeping the swim bait tight

That might be an unusual combo for bass fishing but if you take it down to the saltwater it'll be good for casting big live baits for blues, reds, etcetera. I'd suggest a 6000 spinning reel and 30 pound line. I live in Queensland and that would be considered on the short side of rigs for surf fishing as most are 12 feet long.
