Visited the Yakult factory in the 1980s. They explained that Yakult has high sugar content in order to maintain the L. casei bacteria. And Singapore's bottle is big at 100ml. Yakult elsewhere is 65ml.

Personally preferred Yakult Ace light as it has lesser sugar, same nutri-grade "B" as Vitagen, and 3 times the amount of Probiotics compared to regular Yakult in each bottle.

I like Vitagen more because Yakult leaves an aftertaste in my mouth - though I would drink Yakult in a heartbeat if I was overseas for a long time and it appeared. Edit: spelling

Drank Vitagen when still in schools but now drink both Vitagen & Yakult to get the different types of Probiotics & Flavours ... Both are good in their Special Ways ... I normally choose stuffs that offer Safer , More Healthier , More Durable & Easier to Maintain , Happier When Using Them & Are More Sustainable ...

Vitagen is...... instead of trying to make the drink better all they can do is try to bash yakult to get people to drink them. I'd rather not drink than drink vitagen for free hahaha

Answer, just dont drink either, eat garlic, ginger, onions, kimchi, natto and fermented stuff. Drinking these drinks might mess up your gut health even more if you dont know what youre doing.

I’m almost 60 yo. When I was young dunno which adult bluff me as a kid saying vitagen n Pepsi is better when I grew up then know yakult n coke taste better.

Bacteria itself is sourish. At high dose, people will not drink that as it's not appealing. High sugar is thus added to make it appealing to drink.

That’s why got grading on it ma. But the sugars is for the microbes to survive the shelf-life. Too little sugar makes them all useless.
