I don’t think it’s bc ppl want her to be a “social justice warrior”. I think since the movie highlights very dark & serious themes like DV & SA, it’s very weird of her to not only use the press run to promote her haircare & alcohol line but also treat this as a light hearted romantic comedy when it’s not, that’s why she’s receiving backlash. Actual DV survivors spoke out against how she treated this movie. While I do think there are some ppl that are dragging the hell of this (bringing up old interviews from the past & shit) however she definitely deserves the backlash for how she handled this movie during the press run
@runawaycloak17522 ай бұрын
You don't need to promote things diffrent bc it has a harmful matter the same thing for hotd game of Thrones euphoria none of those shows was marketed in a way that it should have been either but no one cared same for 50 shades of grey and much more its not her job to market to negatives about a show if that was the case every show would do that.
@janycegonzalez2 ай бұрын
@@runawaycloak1752 clearly you didn’t read what I wrote bc it was HOW she treated the press run. Nobody that was in HOTD, GOT, Euphoria marketed their shows how Blake marketed the movie. You don’t see them promoting their shows like it’s a family friendly light hearted sitcom like how Blake did. When you watch interviews that HOTD/GOT & euphoria casts go on, they describe the shows exactly for how it is. For example when you watch cast interviews about HOTD, they make it clear that it’s a show that tells the story of a Targaryen civil war that details a fight for the throne which later triggers the downfall of House Targaryen. When you watch euphoria cast interviews, they make it clear that the show highlights toxicity, drug abuse, assaults within teenagers. Even 50 shades of gray made it clear that it’s basically kinky love story (even though their history is problematic as well). When I first heard of this film, I thought it was another one of those rom coms bc of HOW she marketed it. No one is saying that it has to be somber,sad or “negative” but It IS her job to make sure that movie is properly & accurately marketed as not only as the MAIN star & the face of the movie but also as a producer.
@jaries90272 ай бұрын
Dee I respectfully have to disagree with you on this one. The purpose of the film is to raise awareness which Blake has neglected to do at almost every turn. The big issue is Justin bought the rights to do this film, and he's the director of it. He has a history of being true to the material and really advocating about serious issues through his work. He takes it seriously. When Blake got hired on, she AND her husband, Ryan, started rewriting the script after becoming a producer, started over stepping the director (Justin), and making big changes to make it less true to the material and the main focus of the film which is literally DV. Its what the book and film is about there fore thats what should be promoted about the film in press. In all the press for the film, Blake was trying to sell her new haircare brand, focused on fashion, and not all sounding like she knew what the film was supposed to be about. Also, that interview Blake did with Posey (the other cold actress) ignoring the interviewer was after Blake made a public announcement of her pregnancy.

I love this title. Cuz this is the most boring drama. Like who cares she was mean to 1 lady in 2016 and had a stupid response to a question. Oh well. This isnt much of an issue.
@gavyncarter94612 ай бұрын
Oh I know. Whenever she is in something it becomes headlines. Regardless of what she did and didn't do, why are there mfs doing worse and they have insane supporters that fight for them like the Christian crusaders. But never the same for a non criminal, just a person with drama.

Yeah, I kind of see both sides . While it's not her patriotic duty to go out and do PR for DV and SA... I still find it weird how she handled it.. But if anything the movie itself is the awareness.. These issues arent new... Will Smith didnt go on a Slave awareness tour after his slave movie.. Theres still slavery in some places too. Just sayin.. Drug movies dont bring up D.A.R.E .. Its these booghee fans that wanna glaze these actors for their biddings... its ridiculous... They are actors.. They aint keeping it real.. Job is to fool you and fool you well... 😂

Verity started strong but fell flat to me by the end…I don’t think she’s a great writer 🥴🙃 I’m reading Never Lie which is somewhat similar and it’s already better lol

Why do the movie if you don’t want to talk about the literal main topic of the movie??? I get not wanting to be an activist but it’s like filming a movie about cars and not wanting to talk about cars lol. If you haven’t read the book, u wouldn’t understand.

She has a very dry sarcastic humor just like her husband so when the reporter was telling her people will want to tell her their story and she replied she will give her address and number that was her way of diffusing the craziness of the hypothetical situation, okay it wasn’t funny but at the same time like ‘what’??!! It’s not her job to be anyone’s therapist her job is to be an actress.

Blake Lively is not a star. Its kind of hilarious she faking like she is. When was she relevant besides being Ryan Reynolds wife?

2:25 Honestly same lmao- I think toxic romance in romantic fiction is completely fine. It makes the story spicier + a lot more interesting. Fluff and slice of life gets a bit boring after you read sooo many of them. Immature people can't separate fiction from reality though, so annoying. (Like how in the X-Men, Scott cheats on Jean w/ Madeline, Emma, & Logan. 😂)

how?? what are you going on about? why bother producing it or taking the role... the very least she could have done, she could have NOT promoted her businesses or act like it's rom-com that "you and your girlfriends can hang and watch together". if she put out the DV support number originally that would have sufficed.

She produced the movie and it’s very necessary she got people in the theaters. While her press circuit was slightly disingenuous , she wasn’t gonna tell people the movie was about DV knowing damn well most people don’t wanna watch that depressing/triggering stuff in theaters. She sold it as a romance movie to see with your girls and it worked out. Almost at $200 million already
