Took my midsection off this evening only to discover the corrosion is worse on the powerhead than it is on the midsection. Is there any option to repair the corrosion on the block?

Hi, I bought two 2003 Yamaha 200hp motors I was told one had small corrosion on the exhaust, called a local mechanic shop and they stated if the corrosion got to the power head the motor was done for. My question is how do I know if the power head is damaged by corrosion? Is it true you can’t put it back together if there is corrosion in the power head ?
