My buddy and I tackled this job and all went well, but I didn't have that fancy driver for the locking collar that you used in the video. So I thought of "using a socket" idea, but do you know what worked best? Mu buddy said.. What about the old impeller? That worked great and came with a free cushion! I thought that I'd share, not to take away from the pro!

Why not just use break clean to clean the bearings and then repack the bearings.

The linkage that goes from the timing adjustment screw up to the part below the flywheel, what is the part called that this linkage hooks to. Also, when disconnecting this linkage should there be a lot a wiggle in this part? Mine seem to be very sloppy.

Thank you. I am currently working on a 2007 50 hp EFI 4 stroke. It ran for 20 minutes, then VST output pressure dropped to 2psi and jumped back up to 43psi. It did it two more times them shut off.

have you ever had the bearing race loose in the hub? and what did you do about it? new hub or Loctite?

Just a recommendation. The Harbor Freight ratcheting crimper is only $20 and well worth it. I had to lengthen the existing wires in the boat and it was impossible to get a good solder because of the limited space in the bilge. The crimper gave me good, consistent and quick connections.

Too loose. With the tire on the play or shake will feel like a loose bearing.

As old mate states and as it clearly states in the service manual lower unit test pressure is 10psi (70kPa) & it only has to hold for 10 seconds. The gear oil pan runs in a vacuum state, so if it holds 10 psi of pressure for 10 seconds it is good to go.

Why not show how to pack the bearings the old way!

My yamaha 90hp 2 stroke cannot go past 4300 rpm. If you try it on full throttle past 4300rpm? It will only ran for 10 minutes and the alarm will come on and its on a limp mode....please need help
