On this video, you called the backside and O-ring that you put on before you put the bottom of the block cover on after the sealant was put in place. I’m curious to know that this piece being on the bottom of the powerhead is that the one that has the spines in it that goes to the driveshaft for the lower unit? I personally have a black max 150 that I have hit something in the lake and I can hear a rattling in the casing on the lower unit right below the powerhead.

I am experiencing prop chatter on by yamaha 4 stroke 200 hp engine. I only occurs at low speed, 600, just above idle speed, then it goes away as engine speed increases.Is this something I should be concerned about

honest question - is it worth rebuild? I imagine the parts that you've put into this has been more than what the entire motor is worth by a longshot, that's not even including labor time if you had to pay for it.

I think you should’ve Completely clean all the old grease out, mixing grease is dangerous. Also you should have a preload on the Brng when replacing

Is it normally the fuel pump when at first the boat starts up, but after you let it run then cut it off then it won’t start back up?

Thread locker? Good luck getting that out later. There's no need to put thread locker on a part like that.

Hi John could you please help me out im having trouble with my yamaha 40 hp tilt n trim it' starts fine and runs well on land , when in water it seems to die out on full throttle.

Excellent video. A couple of points though: The shift shaft is on the front middle of the motor. Releases just like the video shows. BUT, take note of it when pulling the foot off. When reinstalling that rod has to go through a rubber boot on the base of the motor. I knocked that boot off a couple of times trying to get the shaft back through it. Also, there is a small pin on that release mechanism that has to go through the hole at the end of the shaft in order for it to work properly.

video started showing one water pump where impeler was anticlockwise inserted and then video continued with total different water pump where impeler was clockwise. I just did mine and I put it anticlockwise and it works good on Johnson 6hp 1965 2 stroke.

Can you leave the fuel water separator in the open position while running if you suspect water in fuel?

I'm about to do a full shift shaft, drive shaft and prop shaft oil seal replacement. I've not once heard anyone mention having to go through a new round of "breaking in seals". Is this not a concern?

My motor will sometimes fire and other times won’t. Normally will start after a couple of days. Stator test good and also the power pack. Have also replaced wiring harness. 2000 40 hp Mercury. 3cylinder. Any ideas?

This guy is a total idiot. Gasoline doesn't freeze. Oil doesnt freeze. If there was any water in the fuel it wouldnt run. If your outboard runs ok, you don't need to do all this malarkey. Look at the plugs he pulled out..lol and you should listen to him?

Part number for the Yamaha shim tool? Can't find the correct tool for this engine anywhere.

I'm having a hard time figuring out where the water hose from the plate between the cylinder heads go. And where to connect the hoses from the rear lower box it's got 3 connections and one goes to the engine cowling plate. Seems to be a one way valve. Great work on the videos.

I've got a 4.5m aluminum boat, with a 50hp Evinrude in the back. It currently had a 15 pitch 3 blade. It was very difficult to turn left and right in the water Will going down to a 13 pitch 4 blade make it Abit easier to steer my boat (Yes I understand triming engine ect. Doesn't help)
