I tried this once on my Rancher, but couldn't get the joint apart so I took it to the Honda dealer - some mechanic I am - lol. The GSP's were entertaining - lol (not that your video wasn't, I just found myself watching what the dogs were doing) - my A.D.D. musta' been kickin' in again - lol. Thanx for sharin'!

Thanks for sharing, always good to see how this is done. I was lazy and replaced full axle on broken boot :P but because of price, I got replacement boot, so I still need to go for it to have a spare axle with clean boots, been lazy, but seeing how you did (watched the big bear you did as well), doesn't seem to crazy. I just replaced my one way bearing so it can't be more difficult than that :P

HA, I have a walker coon hound, not even a year old yet. She is the same way, except she would take the rench and run, or take the glove of my hand. She wants to help, but I would just rather keep her away when I am working. She was chasing the weed wacker today, that would cut her face wide open. Anyway, nic video, I love the picture at the end.

Great vid there Cubbeezx, Aint it great when you discover things like a ripped boot .. such a simple fix.. But sooo time consuming. That was like when i had to replace the front engine side pinion seal on my Grizz. Both wheels, front diff, Arms and all suspension components, plastics, Steering... geeze. all for a freakin $4.89 oil seal.

Yeah it is pretty hot it was actually a record I think. And 3100 kms really wow on my old Yamaha rhino I just put 2150 kms on it and it`s a 2007 pretty good but you ride a lot but I think I might get at least 1700 kms on my Kodiak I`m hoping then new tires. What do you think of he 589 m/s they look like a good tire or what about the itp mud lites xtr to?

The kit i got didnt have new snap rings either, i had to do the inside boot on the same side as you in the front, didnt have to take the brake caliper off but i did undo the ball joints and left the tie rod connected. Tha friggin axel nut though was like you said was waaaaay over tight. Was your axel nut chizeled into a notch on the cv shaft to stop it from loosening as well?

Doing some video catch up with everyone. Great little tutorial bud. Just curious. The outer nut, believe it to be a 21mm, wasn't yours one of the locking type? The type you just hammer the tab down a bit. I have the same machine as yours, just a little older, & actually had to replace the same boot as yours. Thanks for sharing your how to. Now on to your other vids. ;)

My 550 has a crimp into a key slot. I was looking on her to see how to get it off. Looks like he just used his impact.

If its not too much trouble, would you be able to give me a list of tools ill need to do this? I've got to replace one front and one rear, both outer. Were any of the parts in the video different from the parts on my stock 2008 grizzly 700? Because of the tracks? The outer nut, was that 27mm (as stated in the vid) or 21mm (as stated in the comments)? Thanks for the helpful vids bud.

just curious...how did you grease the cv joint after changing boot?
@cubbeezx10 жыл бұрын
The kit comes with a package of grease that you squeeze into the boot before you put it on. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching.

Hi thanks for the reply! I was curious, as I may need to do a couple on the trx 350...:?(

Thanks. And how often do you do maintenance on your grizzly?
@rinodotcom9 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. I had to change the upper / inner boot so here is a note for that effort....Unlike the lower CV the upper has a split-wire spring just inside the CV housing (widest part). You'll have to wipe enough grease out after cutting the boot off to see it. Easily removed with small screwdriver ... then the ball-cage will pull out of the housing easily. And then there is another clip (split ring) to remove that you can now get to with the housing and ball cage removed. Like cubbeezx demonstrates ... it isn't that hard ... go do it. The first clue it was different effort from the lower CV was the boot-kit had the split-ring and split-wire clips in it ... uh oh ... where are those ... ha ha

+Doug Rinehart Thanks very much for sharing and glad you liked the video. We haven't had to change our upper/inner boots yet but I'm sure one day we will!
