I just got the 734a and have to say it is impressive. I can't believe the build quality, it reminds me of a EBMM BFR that I once owned.

I'd like to try that one!

I have both the BBP35 and found someone locally selling the BBP434 with maple neck. I love them both! The 434 is really great quality for the money! Good luck on your journey finding the BBP34!

Sounds great to my ears, but I own two BB734a so I guess I’m use to the clear sound of the Yamaha’s. It took me a while to get use to, because I love the deep low end of the Fender P, and the Yamaha is more about a clean and clear sound. Musicman’s have way too much top end for me. I always find myself rolling off the treble completely on the MM. Great video👍🏾

Hey Aaron, I haven't tried the 734 yet. I do the same on my musicman.

I have a BBP34 and the BB734A which is the version with a 3 band preamp and active passive option. Love them both for different reasons, but the BBP34 would be my "desert island" bass. It's so good.

Hi Bob! new subscriber here, love your videos.. i've mixed opinions about these low-mid priced yamahas.. would you consider the overall construction quality to a mexican player bass?
@BobBlackBass16 сағат бұрын
Hey Javia, thanks for subscribing! In my opinion the quality is very similar.

I agree , I was going to get the BBP35 made in Japan, but it’s nowhere to be had and not for a long time, I spent the extra 1k and got STINGRAY SPECIAL HH USA and I’m so glad I bought it. It amazing, and yes..never settle , get on the list on Sweetwater , they will come eventually, just be patient

I bought one of these at Sam Ash. I had it for a few days before I took it back because the P pickup was microphonic. The clicking when I was playing it was very noticeable. Plus I could talk into it and hear my voice through my amp. The bass played well and sounded nice but all of the extra noise drove me nuts.

Hey bogeyking, I noticed the clicking also. Thanks for the info!

- The bass sounds good Bob but I don’t blame you for wanting to try the BBP34. What made you switch from the Mesa 12” cabs to the Hartke 4x10’s. I’m currently pondering a new cab at this time myself.

Hey New England, the mesas sounded boxy to me. I'm digging the Hartke HL 410. Nice and clean and the HL is light weight.

Go with your gut, and get the BBP34…you won’t be happy if you settle. Hope the New Year treats you, and yours well. Cheers

Good to read this. And thanks for your demo Bob. I’ve always liked the BB, Yamaha necks always feel so perfect in my hand. So, I’m on the fence between the 434 and 734. I have G&Ls (SB2T and an L2000 with split coil curcuit) as main players, and last Spring a Reverend Mercalli. Guess I’m going a bit nuts on lived basses… but life is short so make it fun. Anyway, flats on the 734 was also how I was going to go - that 45 degree makes the usual string-through bend much much better for a flatwound string’s character. This is the same on the 434 of course, so I’d like to hear what you feel the advantage of the active pre-amp is in this situation? Thanks ahead🤙🏼

Love your reviews Bob, but disagree with you on this one. Pretty hard pressed to find a better bass at its price point or even beyond in my opinion. That said, keep up the great reviews, always enjoyable!

Hi, can you give a suggestion which one is better? The BB434 or Squier Affinity PJ precision?

I prefer the BB but it's purely a matter of personal preference. Try them both and see which one fits for you.
