Nice job Nate. The Tama cymbal stands are pretty much an exact copy of the old school Ludwig 1400 series flat base stands of the 1960s-1970s (of which i still have several!). Also, the Tama bass drum pedal is a copy of the old Rogers Swivo-Matic pedal except with an updated chain drive. I find that the Yamaha snare stand tends to bounce too much and "walks" when playing a heavier backbeat gig (but is OK on a less hard-hitting gig). Just a tip: for windy outdoor gigs, I keep a set of ankle weights in my trunk and secure them (with their built in velcro straps) to the bottom of the cymbals stand bases. Works great!

The Yamaha bag wins by miles. You ALWAYS need extra space for things. Their hardware isn’t the most traditional looking stuff, but if you can get over that it’s rock bloody solid. Haven’t found a single fault with it.

Nice. Having used both I kept the Tama stuff. I found the Yamaha looks to be not my taste plus I tired of using the sleeves to stop them scratching in the bag. I have had zero problems with the threading on the the Tamas.

after extensively playing both myself, I much prefer the Yamaha. its very rock solid considering how light it is. The look doesn't bother me at all.

does a Yamaha snare stand fit a 12 inch snare?
@nategoncalo5 ай бұрын
I don't have a 12" snare to try but if it can hold a 12" Tom, which it can, you should be good to go with a bit of adjustment.

@@JohnnyAvram yes, it does.

Biggest mistake on the Yamaha was not making those HH legs swivel. Very simple design that would have doubled if not tripled their sales on that HH stand. I used all the the rest of the crosstown stuff (and LOVE it) but have to still use a regular HH stand. Never should have been.

I just ordered a two pack of the Tama stands! I have a full set of the original DW 6000 series with one DW 6000 ultra light. Been curious about the tama stands. I have the tama bag I purchased separately. Going to be nice to have my hardware fit into something so small and light. Looking to change to a full set of tama stands soon

I’ve owned both. As far as longevity and durability the Yamaha is better! Mounting toms on the Yamaha is waaaay easier. The only edge Tama has is the size/profile of the stands and bags.

Yup, basically what I concluded. I agree! How did your stands hold up with clamps and toms hanging from them? Any damage? I've been curious to try myself...
@BrianJones-dq5rh Жыл бұрын
@@nategoncalo they held up just fine!

I think the Tama looks way nicer too. If you are trying to go for a vintage look, which I am, the Yamaha looks kind of modern and clunky to me.

Can’t believe you had issues with a simple hi hat stand…
