I watched all four of these pad change videos, plus others and found them to be the most detailed and useful videos on the topic. I particularly liked how he uses the pad shellac without using a heat gun. It seems so much less risky. I was worried about burning the surface varnish on the Finnish.

Excellent video I’ve just started repadding the right hand keys on my own Selmer SBA 1953 alto. I was a little surprised to find that all the pads need replacing in 0.5 mm diameters e.g 33.5mm, 33.5mm diameters. Considering it’s a European made sax, most I find are in whole numbers - either Selmer’s tooling was wearing out or it was mostly hand made.

Complete newbie question: is it ok to use the fire torch on a lacquered saxophone? Won't the fire damage the lacquer? Thanks

I think to protect the pearls it gives hot air from the side of the pad I think master

If the pad is being replaced, it does not matter if it get burned.

Put them in heated ultrasonic bath and everything just comes off
