Yamaha DTXplorer Review

Thanks for the review. We're currently looking for a starter kit for my son (14) - do you think this is a better bet than the Roland HD-1? Or how about something like the WHD 516-Pro, which you can get with stool/phones/amp/sticks for £485? (Son is quite musical, already plays electric guitar reasonably well (as well as trombone) but prefers playing his band-mate's drums.) Cheers, John

great review. Im looking at one of these on marketplace for $80 with a faulty headphone jack. will it be usable still maybe in midi out or something? Im new to this and just want something to learn and have some fun with

Hey so the headphone jack isn’t completely needed is you use the line out on the back of the brain to an amp. Or use the line out with headphones that have an amp. So just look into that a little. Tbh repair the headphone jack is probably super easy. I opened my unit to replace the battery on the board before I sold it. And it’s all super basic soldering and components with easy access

Hey, just use pod farm without any amps selected. The dtx has it's own pre amp so the ux1 can be used as the interface. Just line out from the drum brain to the ux1, load pod farm, deselect your amps and out your headphone out from the ux1. also i use mixcraft to record everything. i cannot recomend this software enough! it's garageband for windows its awesome!

Hey, i got the same kit and the UX1. What program do you use for recording drums? And is it avaible to record and hear the sound at the same time? Like with podfarm and recording guitar

@goatfil Yup a standard quarter inch jack cable will work just fine mate. I use a standard guitar jack for a extra tom I now have attached so I know it will defiantly work, cheers for commenting :-) rate subscribe etc.

Hey im thinking of buying one second handed, what do you think is a good price for it? It is played for 1 year onnit and its just the basic set. Btw is it easy to record your drums onn the computer with this set? Or do you recommend me another set? (im willing to pick up drumming again)

finding a review on just the Module is hard, probably cause its discontinued. On the basic set...how many additions can you add? I like this brain as its all individule connections as to some other like alesis dm6 wich is all one connection.

where did you get your double bass. I found mine after thought I got rid of it so I cleaned it up very well, but ready to throw on a double bass pedal. but I can't find a double bass for it...

I know im stupid but if the module is running out of battery, are you able to play then? Or do you need both the Power Cable and the battery or do they even have something to do with eachother? sorry for my english

Hey man i have the same kit..i was wondering if you could help me out??..i've lost the ''tom1'' plug in chord..so i cant use my tom 1..can i just use a regular guitar plug in????

@cragz Hey, i dont know who told you that dude but it deffo fits 2 beaters, ive got my gibralter hooked up to it constantly and ive had dw5000 attached to it aswell and they sounded fine and fitted fine, and there bulky as fuck! lol. Just make sure when you attached the pedals that they both hit as central as possible but thats what you would do anyway. Anyways YES IT FITS DOUBLE BASS PEDALS NO PROBLEM WHATSOEVER! so go for it!

You can but you need to purchase the cymbals capable of doing so.
