Yamaha F115 Sea Trial and Prop Test Part 2

We switched out the current prop for this new Rapture prop; it's a 13 1/4 x 15P x 3 blade Stainless. We run the boat and check out the performance numbers to see how the engine runs with the new prop.

PERFORMANCE NUMBERS:
Planing RPM: 3600-4000 RRM
3600 RPM: 19-20 mph
4000 RPM: 24-25 mph
4500 RPM: 27 mph
5000 RPM: 30-31 mph
5600 RPM: 35-36 mph
WOT 5700 RPM: 36 mph
Much better numbers than the previous prop. Enjoy!

Good deal. Told you could squeeze more out of it. Chasing numbers by playing the musical props game can get VERY expensive. I believe your boat is bottom painted. That’s going to cost you a couple hundred rpm and a couple mph. With my 03 Cape 17 with a 2014 F115XA I can get 6150 (rev limiter) with me and one person, 5/8 tank of fuel and just enough ice to keep a half dozen cool ones cool. That puts me right at 41 mph. With a full load in the boat I top out at about 5800 and 38-39 mph. I’m running a Mercury vengeance. They’re not cheap. Not the most expensive, but they’ll hurt a little more than a rapture. The Yamaha talon stainless is another good option for 4.25” gear case. I’m running a 13 1/8 x 16p. I also keep my hull waxed with smoov pink bubble gum followed by a layer of smoov white cloud. I’m a firm believer that it helps.

It is bottom painted which I suspect is why I’m not getting higher numbers. I’m happy with this prop that’s on now much better than before. Thanks for the advice 👍

Ok, so been a year since you posted. How about some feedback; what rpm gps mph do you prefer for cruise? 4k guessing. How does feedback feel from prop on turning against at higher rpm? Have you checked the cotter pin this month? 😂 Thanks for video. Have same engine on same length tunnel boat with hydraulic steering. Love it. I am propped with turbo 13 1/4 17 and get up in similar rpm as you.

4K - 4200 is my favorite! Low 20 mph cruise for speed depending on gear/people. She’ll run out to ft McCree and explore the bay and barely burn a quarter tank. Cotter-pin is good to go and no lost props since! 😎 turning is very smooth but definitely some cavitation if you go super sharp. Great prop for this boat/motor combo. Thanks for watching 👍😎
