A lot of KZbin bike "reviewers" who jabber subjective stuff into a helmet mic while riding around could learn something from this. Clear, relevant, useful information. I wish more of them would do this... show me the damn motorcycle rather than telling me what you think about it. I'll make up my own mind. Thanks for the presentation and good luck with your new bike, its a nice one.

A useful and real-world difference to most KZbin road tests, cheers Mark.

Thanks for the demo. I too have the same exact bike. I noticed the the bags were way to hard to remove and required a strong rip upwards to get them removed. To fix this, I shimmed each of the 3 panhead screws that hold the horizontal bracket that comes with the bike with 3 washers each. That fixed the problem. Notice also that the rubber grommet on the brackets have an up and down side, meaning that they are tapered and need to be place on the bracket to mesh with the case. I used contact cement to keep them from popping off.

sscarcello I find that they are very easy now after 500 mi and 20 removals.

Great Demo of the bag set up. Really does finish off the design of this bike. Very nice!
@Danielgbest5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for this, it was great that you showed the front view and width, my main concern was width interfering with lane splitting but it doesn't look like that will be an issue.
@pilotguy5 жыл бұрын
You are welcome. The bags add to the design I think and don't get the way of anything. The bars themselves would be more of a concern, but even they don't hurt in lane splitting.

Is there a published weight limit to what you can put in the bag? I like to haul 12-packs of Dos Equis home from the liquor store and it's not exactly light. My St1300 says no more than 12 pounds.

Nice demo, thanks! When the bags are on the bike and the key is in the locked position, can you lift the handle and remove the bags, or does the lock keep the handle from being raised securing them to the bike?
@jaydee_world9 жыл бұрын
This is similar to my FJR bags. The lock have the option to lock the opening of the bag & lock the bag into place. Yes u can still lock the bag while having the bag handle raised which means u can remove the bag from its place. Or not raising the handle while locking ur bag and the bag will be locked to the bike.

Hey man that's a beautiful bike I own a fz 09 and the power of the engine is amazing. And i want the saddle bags but I have a top case for the bike right now. I only use it for my helmet and to put my jacket in there. But is the bike really torque to you or is it just me? Ride safe =)
@pilotguy9 жыл бұрын
MarksmanKillaz The FJ fuel mapping is much smoother than the FZ I am told. It is very "tourquey" still so not a bike for beginners. Easier for in town than the Multistada that hates to go slow.
@thehexter19 жыл бұрын
Mark, nice vid & informative. Have been looking at the FJ-09 to compliment my Harley Ultra but for commute purposes. Would be commuting about 55 miles each way a few days a week. Now that you've had the bike for over a month, how are you liking it and do you take it in much traffic? Thanks!
@pilotguy9 жыл бұрын
thehexter1 Thanks. I too owned a Harley when I bought the FJ. This bike is like butter compared to the rougher Harley. I take it in weekend traffic and it feels solid. It is so light and nimble that I think it would do well in commute traffic. The seat is a bit rough past 30 mi for me. I'm getting a Corbin now. I love the bike and can't wait to get back on it. Fun every minute.
@thehexter19 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark! Gonna take a test ride on one later today at the local dealer. I take the Harley on my long trips, just got back form 1,100 ride up through Oregon from Santa Rosa. The FJ-09 would be a commute bike through the 101 corridor up here to Oakland. Need something narrower to split lanes. :-)
@pilotguy9 жыл бұрын
thehexter1 For sure. I don't split on the highway, but this bike is very light and flickable I imagine a good candidate for commuting. The bars are wide, but not an issue if you're splitting safely. Get one and we'll go riding!
@thehexter19 жыл бұрын
Well, the local dealer isn't letting anyone test ride the FJ-09's because "they sell without it"! Hmmm, the 2 bikes they got in are still sitting there. Anyway, the demo truck is coming on 7/11-12 so I'll get on one then and let you know the results. Also going to ride the FJR-1300 but doubtful I'll go that route as I still have the Harley for my long distance trips and vacations. On;y concern is dealing with the chain drive. Have always had shaft or belt drives which require little to no maintenance. Keep hearing how one has to clean and lube the chain every 500-800 miles. Ugh! :-)
@pilotguy9 жыл бұрын
thehexter1 GP Sports in San Jose has a demo. They are great. Tell them I sent you. I've ridden mostly chains all my life and have not ever felt that I needed to service the change so often. I probably will pay more attention to this now, but I've only had one chain fail and that was an old bike that we trashed as kids.

@skubberson53789 жыл бұрын
The stealer keyed my bags to match my FJ-09 key. So no need for a separate key. You should take it back to them and have them re-key it. For the money you pay, it would be foolish not to do it.
