I picked up a nwt fg820 sunburst for $125 with case tuner and strap off marketplace and it sounds and plays better than many guitars I’ve played that were 5x more expensive. I’ll be keeping it for life.

There should be an Elliott Smith signature model. He played an FG180.

Agreed! I'm actaully looking to buy a Yamaha guitar similar to Elliott Smith's. Any recommendations?
@teh_hunterer2 жыл бұрын
@@JUSTlN I think this is going to be pretty similar. I've been wanting to try one of these out for a while because I'm also looking for a guitar like Elliott Smith's, but due to COVID it just hasn't been in stock anywhere. If I end up being able to try one out and get one myself I will try to remember to report back here.

A premium limited Red Label with the absolute top and best of everything, and the transacoutic system with an added delay transducer for about $2500 street or $1000 more would be my dream guitar.

I just purchased my 3rd Yamaha. The FGX3. I’ve been a big fan of Yamaha acoustics and had been waiting to try one of these new red labels as they’re rare in these parts. I found the X3, played it and was hooked. It looks, feels and plays like a far more expensive guitar. I traded my Taylor for it the next day without hesitation. No regrets. This is a far superior instrument. Also worth noting is my 50 year old FG-160 that sounds incredible and stacks up well to the FGX3. It’s supposed to be a cheap plywood guitar that’s not worth much but it sounds better than most every new and much more expensive guitar I’ve found on the walls of my local shops. Yamaha really knows how to build them.

Great to see that iconic name on a modern Yamaha acoustic! From what has been said in the video these new Red Label guitars look like a "must have" and I can't wait to get my hands on one!

I played an FG180 and an FG300, I just bought an FS5 should be here tomorrow, I'm so excited, looked for a month before I found one , next up is installing a K&K mini pickup in it!!! A friend I was in the service with still has his FG180 we bought them on the same day in Japan back in 1971, he won't sell it to me 😩

These sound great, and I typically am not a fan of mahogany back & sided guitars. Tried an FS model and it made me want to add it alongside my Yamaha LSTA-VT.

I've had an FG180 since 1973. Obviously now has sentimental value, but despite all the hype it can't hold a candle to my Martin 000-15m. However, I'd like to get my hands on one of the new red labels. I'm sure they've come some distance in the last 50 years...

Street Price is $799 without electronics 3 series to $1399 with electronics $5 series. MSRP's are about $500 to $1000 more than that. 5 series hand built in Japan are limited and hard to get. comes with an excellent hard case. 3 series in China are easier to get but more machine then man, but share almost all of the specs besides the plastic nut/saddle/pins/pick guard. Both are all solid wood, I am guessing the 5 gets the first choice when it comes to wood, but they are most likely identical. So if you get the 3 series you can add bone nut saddle pins and a wood pick guard later. comes with an excellent hard BAG. The 5 series are also said to have a better setup out the box. But reading the reviews, it seems both are top even right out of the box.

My first guitar at 12 years old was an acoustic FG 365 F Yamaha which was an absolute awesome guitar! I still cannot believe at 15 years old I traded it at the famous Toronto guitar shop, The Trading Post for an electric! IDIOT!! I'm 57 and my favorite acoustic is my FG 340 Yamaha which is black, and I've only seen one other FG 340 in black, so if anyone can give me any info on these rare? black models I would sure appreciate it, because I've been asking around for a few years and nobody seems to know anything. Yamaha make the highest quality electric and acoustic guitars for the money, hands down, no debate! I have an old Yamaha strat copy which is just as smooth as butter!! I love that guitar!! Old age has me scrambled presently forgetting the model!! I love Yamaha and have recommended them new or used to tons of people knowing whatever those folks pick up they will be happy with!! I've never heard one Yamaha player ever complain about these awesome instruments! Jack - Canada ~'()'~

Hi, Can I seek your advice please? I just bought a Yamaha FG200 circa1973 (47 years old). The action at 12fret was over 5mm, I reduced it to 2.9mm. However truss rod is barely working. There is slight bow in the neck near the soundhole. Otherwise I am quite happy. I want to ask - As this guitar is old and neck is slightly bent, is it a good idea to loosen strings daily after playing to lessen the tension on the neck? Thank you for your advice. :)

I just purchased two new FGX5 Red Label's from two different dealers from different parts of the country. Both had huge blemishes that anyone who has never even held a guitar would have noticed. One sounded good. The other didn't. I waited two years to own one. Both were returned. Terrible workmanship.
