I have this guitar - it's a really impressive instrument. The sound is incredible, rich and tons of sustain. It doesn't sound quite as characterful as my Gibson dreadnought, but it is half the price! My only two gripes are that the action is a little high (but easily fixed with a setup) and the finish, while beautiful to look at, is a bit noisy when moving my hand along the neck. That will probably deaden over time though as the finish becomes more worn.
@ed_music18342 жыл бұрын
Thank you Sir. Yes this indeed is a marvelous instrument and like you said has tons of sustain which is not really expected to come from a concert sized body. Yes the action is a bit high but is easily fixed with a pro setup. I'm glad you got across the video and watched it Sir. I hope will have so much fun with yours.

@@trevorgwelch7412 Yes sir unfortunately. Many of the higher end series such as this one will be difficult to have especially at this time we're having. I didn't hesitate to buy this in our local and I'm just really happy to have one.

A FS3 just arrived from one store. I bought it because the ETA of the FS5 was too far away. However, I put a deposit down on the FS5, and just got a call that it's in. So, I'll be able to compare them directly. The FS3 is very good, though has a couple of minor issues. Can't wait to get the FS5 in my hands!
@ed_music1834 Жыл бұрын
Hi there. Yes the FS5 is better due to it being made in the Hamamatsu custom shop and a little bit more care is done for the make. This also has premium materials like bone nut and saddle with ebony bridge pins.
@PreacherAtArrakeen Жыл бұрын
@@ed_music1834 the finish on the FS3 is bad. Patchy, and brush swipes where the lacquer was applied. The fret ends are sharp, the frets need polishing, saddle and nut lowered. I'll see how the FS5 compares, though if it's not obviously better finished, I'll opt for the FS3, which is a great little guitat…if you know a luthier.
@ed_music1834 Жыл бұрын
@@PreacherAtArrakeen I'm sorry to hear that the the FS3 was in a bad shape/setup. I think uou might need to send it back to your local store and opt for a replacement. My FS5 is ok with no blemishes and sharp edges. Action is a bit high as expected but can be adjusted. You will definitely see a difference with the one made in Japan.
@PreacherAtArrakeen Жыл бұрын
@@ed_music1834 The FS-5 will be here next week. The FS-3 sounds really good, if things are better, even ever so subtly, I'll be a happy camper. The action on the FS-3 is too high, but still playable. The sound is exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for your demo.

Excellent review! This guitar is in my final top three to purchase. I have an eye on a couple of Eastman models because they’re $200-300 less expensive and also amazing guitars. Made in Japan is more favorable for me than made in China & that is probably worth the extra dollars. One slight correction for your review. You said the bridge is mahogany but I’m pretty sure it’s ebony.

Yummy, that's one delicious sounding guitar. What's the difference in your experience in sound and playabillitybetween the Red Label and the LS-TA?
@ed_music18342 жыл бұрын
Hi Sir Buck thank you for dropping by. The Red Label would give you this vintage sound I think primarily due to the woods used (sitka and mahogany). Our LS on the other hand is more on the modern side with the inclusion of Rosewood. In terms of playability, they are similar. The LS would have a fatter neck though.

I believe Chinese guitars are equal to any Japanese or American guitar .
@ed_music18342 жыл бұрын
Hi Sir. We can say that to the higher end ones specifically the FG3 and FS3 (also the ones with electronics. The difference would be on the saddle, nut, and the bridge pins as they are plastic against the 5's which have premium materials. Also I believe in terms of construction as a little bit more care is given to the JP made ones. Also thr 3's come with a hard padded gig bag while the latter with a premium hardshell case.
