Great tips, would of never looked at the front soft plastic as a performance dampener. I’ll give this mod a try and save a couple hundred on an aftermarket box 👍

great video brother... my set up... and totally approved from one of the best tuners here in Greece... you cut the front plastic as you have done great there... you cut the top of the airbox where the snorkle is, the hall front... you remove the aftermarket filter (I have payed already one too..) you install the oem filter BUT you cut the red paper element and leave only the metal mesh... and finally the three rubber bots we all have you get from yamaha 2 of the shortest boot.... you install them on and your intake is done!! install a good FULL exhaust with no cats on... and run for a dyno tune... get the air/fuel str8 and nice and you then have the full potentials from your mt... thats for listening a man you have paid a lot for different intakes and exhausts....

Very good tips. How did it worked out with the stock exhaust I.c.w the ecu flash. You ride with the stock exhaust, air box mod and then the flash. It worked out very well? Greetings Ivo

What about water, surely a whole load of water is gunna get sucked in when riding on rainy days or on motorway

I completley removed the whole snorkel bit by cutting along the line on the top. Haven't done the front bit yet...

There is going to be a noticeable difference in performance one you do all the mods along with the ECU flash.

This mod will make no difference at all.. all you are doing is widening the gap for the air to get through.. without this mod the airbox has a smaller gap but the same amount of air comes through but it comes through quicker with a smaller gap.. its just like walking through a subway when the air rushes through. because the subway has a tunnel effect were the gap is smaller than the outside of the subway thethere is exact the same amount of air but less space for the air to get through which results in a more windy area..

With this mod it opens the gap thus creating “more” airflow flowing directly through the bike so it obviously does make a difference if u flash the ecu accordingly I’d say it’d make a difference wether or not the ecu is flashed
