I'm new to hyper naked bikes. Find it difficult a bit because of the torque and the upright sitting position as it wants to push you back in a way that you need to hold the bars tight when you acelarate. Also own a MT09.

I’m 5 months into my mt09sp; get a steering damper 100%; a small windscreen helps a bit and honestly doing some abs/core work to stabilize you on the bike and will help you keep a lighter grip on the handle.

I have to say i can almost wheel every bike first you need to know your rear break perfectly otherwise you will crash its only a question when. 2. Clutch ups are easyer then power wheelies if you do a clutch up the rpm are lower so you dont get to much torqe that results in a smoother wheelie and try to get little pressure on the rear break the hole time so you dont flip your bike thats the easyest way. Ride safe and yeah really good video
@robinpochmann96344 жыл бұрын
So i have a tipp 4 ya break permanent with your rear break the wheelie will be so much easyer

@@Chaser2win it's not hard to learn. It just takes getting used to. I keep it right before the rear break engages, that way you barely need to go down before you bring it down. Trust the rear break

Ive watched so many wheelie videos how to do it with the MT09, Ive had mine for about 5 months and left Traction control on level 1 (ride a `16 Rn29) Ive only accidently made a smal wheelie while I was passing somebody ,probably because i hit a pothole on the other side of the road. Im scared to mess up the forks and also drop the bike at those speeds.
@Nordspets2 жыл бұрын
I’ve Got a ‘16 abs model with TCS aswell. First of all; turn of the tcs. It will hinder you from doing anything other than a small power wheelie. Second; switch to B-mode. It will be a lot less jerky and therefore a lot safer. After that it’s all about seat time. Practice, practice and practice . Start out with your front wheel low and get comfortable at that hight riding out the wheelie with the gas to save your steering bearings. Once you are comfortable with your front wheel 2-3 feet of the ground, start practicing foot brake control and readiness (spelling?). “Gixxer brah” has a great video about this. Good luck to you m8! And remember, it takes A Lot of practice. I’m at the point of learning to be comfortable and get stable wheelies just below balance point, which took about a month or two(1-2 hours, 1-2 times a week), including last season.

But I can also feel my clutch starting to slip too, so I'll have to get a new one, and kinda relearn the bike. That's so cool that you have a wheelie school. If you're just starting try the foot brake technique, wind your throttle to unload the suspension, press on the rear brake to compress the forks but leave your throttle on, not full but a decent amount, as you release the rear brake the wheel will lift, start low and work up, it's more predictable than the clutch... once you get used to lifting and carrying, then move onto the clutch, just my opinion, there's less chance of looping it. TOP TIP: ALWAYS COVER THE REAR BRAKE !

So I've been finally practicing wheelies as I've stopped being such a pussy. within 3 days I've learned how to ride out a power wheelie pretty confidently along with modulate the rear brake to control height. All I can say is practice practice practice and get used to how the bike reacts to throttle. I use B mode and traction mode 1. Lifts so easily in second gear at 30mph for a base line, get used to modulating the throttle to control the front end and cover the back brake and start tapping it with you feel the front getting too high for you. Learn how to modulate it as just a bump of the rear brake brings the front down tremendously. Hit balance point this afternoon for the first time and I can't explain the adrenaline rush you get being able to ride out a fully wheelie and if you have a quick shifter like me you can shift up during wheelies. What a thrill!!!! Fucking love these bikes

I just set cruise control and ride hands free for a few seconds to let the burning in my wrists go away 😁 it's definitely the most fun I've had on a bike and I'd love to try an 09 but I won't be trading my 10 for an 09. Too many features I like plus the crossplane 4 sound is intoxicating. At around 5000 rpms it sounds like I have a mini v8 under me

Not one with a radio and giant front fairing but like a stripped down Victory or Harley so i can have both styles of bike depending on my mood. Problem is the mt10 is so damn hard to stay off of. Coordination is the toughest part. When you've been riding for 10+ years the normal way, with both wheels on the ground, and you have to train your hands to do something not necessarily mechanically sympathetic, it's hard to learn. The reason the MT-09 wheelies so easy is mostly due to the rear suspension geometry being too "pro-squat" in the geometric angle relationship between the rear axle, swingarm pivot, and chain pull angle. The rear shock is too soggy/saggy.
@Chaser2win6 жыл бұрын
Lifted_Above did not know about the suspension, i also have the feeling it has to do with the engine! Anyway, coordination is a bitch 😎😂

Nah. The engine is torquey but it's not the sort of torque a 1290 Super Duke, ZX-14R, Hayabusa, Bandit 1250, or a few sport touring bikes make off the bottom and they don't have trouble keeping the front down. Check out this lecture from Traxxion Dynamics- kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3S5ZX-NgtmfkK8

what happened at 14:11 is exactly why learning to wheelie like this is stupid, its not a conventional power wheelie as hes using clutch but wheelies like this rely solely on popping the wheel slightly and just accelerating hard, the issue is youre not gonna learn to get to balance point like this as you have to keep increasing speed getting more and more dangerous as you ''wheelie'' my advice would be to get something small like a grom where you cant rely on power and learn proper technique, you will crash learning like this
@simongarneau7275 жыл бұрын
Actually even when you clutch you are lifting it with the throttle rather than slipping the clutch and popping like a proper clutch up

lol youre giving it like 9000 to wheelie, not 4000. Also, that looks like a power wheelie to me. Its just the insane torque helping you out

Hey man ;) Try with the clutch. In this viedo you're riding too fast before pulling the throttle. It looks a bit dangerously.

Just to let you know ur actually not using the clutch your clutch throttle timing is wrong so ur actually just doing a power wheelie kinda let go grab bsck wheelie☺️😂
@dujedragicevic6 жыл бұрын
Man you're doing it wrong. Easing of the throttle before dipping the clutch is counter effective.
@Chaser2win6 жыл бұрын
How should you do it then?! 🤔 Please explain, thnx
@dujedragicevic6 жыл бұрын
@@Chaser2win Keep the throttle steady somewhere near the tourqy part of the revs, dip the clutch and pick it up with some more throttle almost instantaneously. Check this vid for example. kzbin.info/www/bejne/paDQmamuadGIf8k Also, try the technique of preloading your rear brake while attempting to do wheelie. Slight press on that rear brake, just enough so you feel the drag, and than pop up. This is the fastest way how to learn to use that brake, not only to use it in emergency, but to control the speed and the balance of the wheelie.
@Chaser2win6 жыл бұрын
@@dujedragicevic thnx, will definitly try that! I find the rear brake kinda difficult to use properly 👍

And that last wheelie is the exact reason why you don't power wheelie by the time the front comes up you are picking up too much speed just saying
@JPtheHammer5 жыл бұрын
That's why you have to shift while the front tire is in the air.
