good for you,I have had mine since 01.I am getting the bike back on the road as I parked it up a few years ago.Done 100k on it still a great machine. I reckon this particular model will be deemed a classic in years to come , still looks better than the new ones.! Best bike I,ve ever owned too.

you did 100k on this bike? you mean miles? I was considering to buy an fzs1000 at 50k miles yet I have hesitations as to the reliability of its engine. Maybe it is more reliable than I assume?

Found a craigslist 2001 FZ1 , high miles, 81000 no title but had from appearances had never been dumped. The VIN came back clean, and the seller cut his $800 asking price in half, and practically begged me to get it out of there. For stupid cheap money I have a machine that after a new chain and sprockets, oil change and filter and fresh lo-lead, a motorcycle that runs as new, and the cylinder compression is like it left the factory. Got a bonded title on it and, for less than one stack have essentially 140 hp rocketship.

how do u get a bonded title?
@Foontflaky
@Foontflaky 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrMitokiller Its a little involved here in Colorado, Get the machine appraised written on dealer letterhead, get a surety bond for twice the bikes worth, have the state patrol run the vin, take that paperwork to the dept of revenue and find out who last registered it, contact them certified mail to fill out an affadavit or have the envelope returned to sender, proof of insurance, then get it all past a title clerk at DMV, simple LOL.

I have a 1995 Honda Pan European ST1100 and just bought a 2002 Fazer with only 15,000 miles on the clock and love them both. When I’m going long distance the Pan is the bike of choice but if I want to have a day on the twisty’s then the Fazer definitely has the grin factor an absolutely awesome bike with the looks to match.

One of the best values on the road today! These are so comfortable and all the power you need. You can get these around $2000 now, that's ridiculously low for what you get! People are still trying to sell their 1997 CBR's for $2800

My'02 is the first street bike i've owned after 15 years of riding dirt. I love it so much, i dont think i'd ever sell it, just keep rebuilding it. The only physical detail that's ever bothered me about them was just how big the exhaust was. it's like a cannon, just a little too long for my taste. but besides that, it's a sexy dream machine
@atillaadn

By saying "rebuilding it", you mean engine rebuild? I am considering to buy a fzs1000 with high mileage (2002), so I need to ask:). What is your mileage and has your fzs been reliable? Thank you

+atillaadn I've had this bike since may 2014 and I've put about 20k on it. never left me stranded, and hasn't had any issues so far. I tossed the exhaust not too long after I posted this comment. the bike sounds amazing with a good exhaust.

The FZS600 is 600cc and is not the 1000cc R1 engine. The 600 is 94bhp whilst the 1000 is 143bhp. I have an FZS1000, its got breathtaking performance

It's got plenty of torque
@jamesmarshall3311
@jamesmarshall3311 2 жыл бұрын
@@noxscotchxtape Correct Ross. All this talk of lack of torque is dumb. I am on my fourth Fazer 1000 and I would only say that its a little soft just off idle in the 2000-4000 rpms range, but no biggie. I also have a ZRX 1200 to compare it with it, and you would feel the difference. However, most Fazer owners add a pipe, even just a decent end can will see a big drop in weight, and if you just add an Ignition advancer ( They are cheap ), you will get a massive 10 ft lbs extra of torque at 3250 rpms and a measured 6.7 hp, which is incredibly impressive. Makes the bike easier to start too, and slight improvement to fuel economy. Adding a quality jet kit like Ivans makes it even better.

I've bought me a 2003 Modell recently and am a little disappointed with it. It is extremly confortable, it's a Beauty for shure.But compared to actual supernaked's the engine is somehow lifeless not to say boring, as whell as suspension for me is clearly is on the to soft side. But i bought it for touring purpose, so it's ok. At least it's cheap to buy, reliable and easy to maintain.

Yep, that's the case for most Japanese bikes I'm afraid. Don't know why journalists and people in general over-hype inline fours, for normal use they are annoying at best. I still sport an old Sprint 955 and 4 poppers barely keep up even when trying hard. Most of the available torque with the 955 triple kicks in as low as 2500rpm and by the time the inline four spools up you're going way too fast anyways. Low end torque feels like magic once you try it. I've tried several recent Japanese sport-tourers and they all feel bland in their power delivery. The VTEC Honda VFRs especially are a joke, will never understand how they are so highly rated with such an inconsistent power delivery.
@Ritalie
@Ritalie 4 жыл бұрын
@@WoZIMoo Thank you for the comments. I had a 2002 ZX-6R, and it was a very revv happy engine, but it also had stellar mid range, and felt super strong, everywhere. Maybe because the bike was 377 pounds dry? It had 43 foot pounds of torque. So I'm wondering how the Fazer with 70 foot pounds, compares to my old ZX-6R. From reading the reviews, it sounds like the Fazer somehow has less bottom end torque than any engine ever made. So I'm apprehensive to get one. In other News, the Suzuki Bandit 1250S is one of the best low end torque engines ever built, with around 100 foot pounds of torque, at very low RPM. I guess it's just one of the most aggressive 4 cylinders ever put in a normal naked bike, in terms of it's very low RPM torque.

I´ve owned one for 12 years now, but as almost any serious fazer owners know, you have to invest in a jets kit (Ivan´s preferrably), then you get the real thing.

It's just a machine, I say down shift and gun it and your way out in front of traffic at any time. We no where that engine design came from, so get those RPM's up and have fun, the motor lives it all day.
