The fun on these starts at 6k rpm in third or fourth, then rev it up to 12k and hang on. Once you know how to get the best out of these, you can surprise a lot of more powerful bikes( if you want). The other thing is being fuelled by carburetors, there is zero jerkiness that you get with some fuel injected bikes when going on throttle from off. I would go so far as to say that these bikes are better than some of the modern stuff. 94hp, 22 liter tank on the 2002/03 models giving a 220 mile tank range, even when thrashed and a bullet proof engine and so reliable. Superb bikes!

Yeah it's a little screamer and so so smooth , Faye can't wait to get started on it proper 👍🏍
@chrisredfield32403 жыл бұрын
I was shocked the tank was that big. 14l on the mt-09 and 14.5l on a f900r 15l on a f900xr. Plenty of bikes now won't get 100miles on a tank

As one of those older riders you mentioned, I agree with you on that remark about "quick shifters". If you wanna be out 'n about, but are too lazy to work for the joy of riding, then stay at home, or buy a Zero or Livewire. When I was a lad, with BSAs and Matchless bikes, they were simple to work on, roadside reps were a common thing and shifting (all done by hearing and feel) was all part of the work to get you up to speed. Now everything is done for yer and indication of which gear you were in was something you felt. Now it's all lit up on the dash. I own nothing yonger than 20 years old, and never feel I miss or want any of todays gadgets. The true meaning of being a biker has been swallowed up by technic. Happy belated Birthday greets. Cheers🍻

Agreed my 1st 20yrs or so of riding there was no sign of rider aids and i remember when BMW started testing a motorcycle abs system and the bike world was in uproar about it taking braking out of the riders hands and nowadays the dash and electronics are running away with themselves and don't get me started on keyless ignitions 🤣🤣 thanks for the birthday wish 👍🏍

Dropping the bike is part of the riding game so easy to do on a bike you are unfamiliar with too, especially on uneven roads at junctions or by the side of the road with a drop in the tarmac.When I had an 1100cc Pan European I dropped it several times and boy that takes some lifting. At least Faye didn't have the bike fall on her so just another life lesson learned.I hope you post one of your repaired bike when you get a chance Shaun, itll be interesting to see your reactions as to the differences on riding it to your AT.

Happy Birthday for yesterday. That's a great bike for your mrs. Happy birthday Shaun hope you got out for a bilated birthday ride on the CB 1300, such a shame the new version isn't available outside of Japan, they're the classic retro naked/half faired bike. It's good to see the Fazer's running well, though I think it'll take Faye a little while to get used to the extra power. I swapped a Triumph Tiger Sports for the FZ1-S, it's much more fun and corners better. Only with no traction control you've got to go easy on the throttle, especially with cold/wet roads or it'll let you know about it. The stock Dunlop tyres took too long to heat up and didn't inspire confidence. A pair of Road 5's transformed both turn in and grip even in the cold and wet.

@@TinsonTour Glad you're happy with the CB 1300 especially after the initial disappointment over the forks. The tanks not too bad on the Gen 2, I think it's the fuel consumption which makes fuel stops more frequent ? Don't think I'm getting much more than 30mpg? Mine's been customized, give it a look, she's something else!! The seats a bit firm, wouldn't want to tour like you did. The oil cooled 600 Bandits have the best engines tried & well tested & bulletproof .The Fazer was a bit faster top end but not got the cult bike status of the Bandit .The Bandit had plenty of mid range stonk & pulled like a train .Also you could fit the 750 teapot cylinders & top end & many parts from other bikes could be used to customise it .The chrome on the Fazer forks was crap ,everyone I saw used had pitted forks ,that’s why I bought the Bandit. I owned it 17 years & it never missed a beat or broke down ,only one puncture fixed at the roadside .The Other rival the Honda Hornet didn’t have the cult status of the Bandit either .Bandits 600 or 1200 cc oil cooled naked ‘s were the real McCoy & the original & best bang for buck .

Was a great bike that and tbh wish we'd of kept it ... gotta be honest i spent a full day degreasing and cleaning all the metal work as it wasn't pretty when we bought it ... loads of wd40 and elbow grease

you ever feel the need for crash bars or are the bungs/sliders enough? Also is there any need for sliders near the rear? Are they universals ones or model specific?
@TinsonTour3 ай бұрын
Crash bars would be better as top fairing still touches down slightly when dropped , can't see any need for rear bungs though

I’ve never dropped my bike 😎👌 but I have dropped every bike my wife has ever had and believe me I wish it was mine and not hers as the way it is 😎☝️it’s the most painful experience, so it’s a normal learning progression don’t let it knock your confidence, lol blipper s quickshifters + all the other electrical black magic has just made bikes so dam expensive and would you want to own a 2021 bike in ten years another good watch stay safe ,

Do you not think some bikes have too much tech nowadays it seems a bit overkill on some models

Happy birthday, I was just wondering what insurance you got for Faye since she has not passed her test. I have been looking for friend who wants to learn to ride a A2 bike, but cant find any learners insurance for them. Would they need a instructor with them at all times or can I go out with them to give them tips?
@TinsonTour3 жыл бұрын
We went with bemoto but yes she's gotta be in radio contact with an instructor when she's on the bike but it's all in her name and was only a bit more expensive than the michigan which is crazy

6-7 weeks with no riding, working long hrs...shitty weather, kids life. When I get on that bike I would be massaging the rev limiter every change I could!

Any opinion on this version (up to 2003) vs the newer model that came out in 2004. ? Also would love to get your opinion since you bought it. How has it been since ?

Honestly it's got to be up there as 1 of the best pound for pound bikes , the engine is a peach from any revs and super comfortable... oh and mega reliable if looked after

It's so funny thinking that someone on a CBT has to shell out £1200 for an old YBR125 or something at the moment, whereas if you have your full licence you can have something like a Fazer or Bandit 600 for less than £1k if you're lucky.
@TinsonTour3 жыл бұрын
I know the price of 125's in comparison is ridiculous 👍

Ok at the risk of sounding dumb why is the Fazer adorned with L plates. Please be gentle I passed my test over 50 years ago.
@TinsonTour3 жыл бұрын
It's the bike Faye is learning on as now u have to do it on a 600cc or above with a certain power to weight ratio 👍
@colinthornton13783 жыл бұрын
@@TinsonTour so she is going for her A license and not her A2? It’s very confusing, my lad has just passed his cbt so he is on L plates but because he is 22 he can’t do a A license until he’s 24 so he is going for his A2 which means he won’t need L plates on a 47 bhp bike. I realise I am really old and barely cogent but I can’t wait for him to come on a tour with me but these tests to get a bike license seem to be designed to put as many obstacles in the way so most people give up.
@TinsonTour3 жыл бұрын
Yeah faye is doing her A licence so hopefully in a few months she won't need L's fingers crossed
