I've always thought this amp was one of the industry's best kept secrets. I've had the 212 combo since 1996 and have used it for everything. I love it so much, I've bought two heads and a 1x10 combo of the same amp.

The Mk2 has a low input which is nice for slightly less volume (it's still absurdly loud though).

Indeed. It’s very sad they left the pro amp side

@@TheSpaceGuitar They should save on cash and make a Foot Pedal that consolidates some of their best preamp qualities. Reminds me of Peavey they have some of the best analog distortion with their Transtube preamp but only in some amps not by itself? Makes no sense. H & K broke the mold with their gold.

@@samiam9059 they should have improved the VR series of amp, very clever and ahead of its times. They quit the Pro stuff, they went all in with THR and the bought line 6. Now they dominate the low/mid range of everything and they left us with few things...

Thanks for posting. I have a G50-112 III and always thought the B channel sounded broken...it sounds the same as this with way too much lows muddying up the overdrive. Otherwise, it's an amazing sounding amp. My Yamaha speaker was toasted and I literally stuffed a EVM12S inside of it.

Thanks for the comment. Yamaha’s amps are so underrated…I’m so sad they stopped building hi-end solid state amps, but I understand digital compact ones sells better. Mine was mint and fully original, I bought it in a shop that wanted get rid of it. Please subscribe mate

I love yamaha guitar and amps since 1979. I have got two yamaha amps JX50 and G50 112 MK3 bought brandnew from japan gifted by late father in 1981 and 1986. These are built like tanks. Yes I agree that I received G50 112 MK3 with stuck speaker voice coil. However, it started working by pushing speaker diapharm back and forth. But after 39 years this may need voice coil replacement. Also its spring reverb tank became dead since last couple of years and I might get it checked for loose connections inside. On the other hand JX50 never had no issues at all...

Repairing an old solid state amp is not expensive, so I recommend you to fix your amp and enjoy it again. Regards

I have this amp. Had this for about 20yrs. Purchased it from a pub using it as a vocal amp on karaoke nights. It has some kick! Used it for every live gig i did. With the flexibility of the eq, this amp really lets you craft the sound you want. I was using a baritone Gretsch projet. The lower frequencies did no distort at all. I now use a vox amp with this for wet dry. Wet on the Yamaha dry on vox. Using a baum conquer, yamaha revstar, custom self built Strat and the Gretch. They all sound amazing through this amp. No regrets at all buying this from the pub. They had no idea what gold they were sitting on.

Rivera was not involved in this Mk3 version, he worked on the mk2. This is a very nice amp, but the stereo features of the Jazz Chorus still make it a better amp than the Yamaha counterparts. If we were talking VR series, well that’s another story
