The Yamaha G100 is a solid state amp made in the 80s! Used by many acclaimed guitarists, like Pat Metheny and Mike Stern, let's check how it sounds!
Enjoy!

I love Yamaha guitar amps. I have got JX50 and G50 112 M3 since 1981 & 1986 respectively. Indeed great amps...

I had this amp back in the mid-80s. Ended up selling it to a friend to pay bills. She was a great amp and worked will for my needs.

Sounds great on it's own but seems like a good pedal platform amp too, very neutral. Yamaha builds great stuff. I have 2 of their old 80's shredder guitars and they still feel and play great.

That was my amp in the 80s. Great to see someone playing it. I remember it having great clean tones. EDIT - actually, mine was the 50 watt version.

I had an Fender Deluxe reverb while my guitar buddy had a Yamaha g30 when we were kids in the late seventies. From what I remember I didn't particularly like the overall tone but listening to this post I have to reconsider because I really like the wide tonal range this amp appears to have.

It’s sad that Yamaha made probably the best solid state guitar amps in history, but their production was so short-lived and now they are so unknown.

I have the G50 210 MK I and I love it for my stereo rig. Great for pedals plenty loud but pretty hefty for solid state amps. Ah, the 70’s! Yours is a MK II correct? All stock? Thinking about replacing my reverb tank, it’s about the size of a gameboy.

It really sounds like the much more ubiquitous JX series, just a tip to others.

I have a V1 G100B-212 and I love it, will never part with it. Apparently there were 2 versions of this amp, the G100-212 and G100B-212. The B212 doesn't have the pre-set volume or tremolo, only reverb and distortion built in with the foot switch jacks on the rear panel, along w the record out jack. It produces really sweet and deep tones. I'd love to know about this but can't find any info. I've also been looking for a manual. I bought my amp back in 1983/84 used for $150, and still good as new, and in beautiful condition

I was given one of these amps a while back. It came out of a junk pile and the guy let me have it for free. It works and it's great for clean tones, but I'm a metal guy. Mine has no low end crunch at all. Is there something wrong with it, or is that just how these amps are? I'm just getting back into playing guitar after not being in a band since 2004, so be gentle. Lol

Put pedals for that in front of it, and hook it on the ext port to a closed back 4 x 12 cab. these for some reason do the qotsa sound well if you put a fuzz and some sort of marshall preamp in front first. played around with this today, and got the near sunn beta lead sludge tone.

Correction: I figured out the problem.....only took 20 years. Lol Plug your guitar cable into the jack that says high output or something like that. Then turn to distortion channel and crank that suckered up. It sounds like a hard rock tube amp. As a metalhead I found it enjoyable.

Le test démontre que cet ampli est d’un ennui mortel. Les sons clairs s’enchaînent et se ressemblent. Pas vilains mais les sons distordus sont sans intérêt.
