Yamaha Genos 2 Disco - adding vocal phrases demo

I reckon you're on a winner with the vocal phrases augmenting the Genos styles, Leigh. There is consistent criticism on various channels about the Genos sounding "cheesy" when playing popular tracks. I believe this is due to the vocal parts being played on the right hand using inappropriate instruments in place of the human vocal leads that people know, so it sounds unnatural and irritating to them. Using vocal stems elevates the Genos to a whole new level that that public can grasp as something familiar.

If a Genos 2 would cost you about 7K then I assume you are based in Australia? Don't dismiss the idea of a second-hand or traded-in Genos 1 -- there are plenty out there right now for under 4K and they'll do most of what the Genos 2 does.

Hi Leigh, another excellent demo. So now we can not only sack the bass player, drummer and guitarist, but also the vocalist! This instrument is really special, all I hope is that Genos 3 doesn't do away with the keyboard player as well,😀 we might all be in a bit of trouble then!

Leigh, is there a repertoire list for each style like there was on Tyros? I bought a Genos2 (upgraded from a Tyros2) and heed help finding songs for the styles and styles for songs. I did download the Playlist but it is limited in size compared to the old Music Finder. Thank you for the videos they are magnificent.

how did you sync the multipad with the acappella ? did you use audio Phraser ?

I put the audio file into logic and set the tempo to match the style. Flextime feature in logic

@@LeighWilbraham so if I understand correctly you cannot match the tempo of the multipad with the GENOS tempo, right ? you just need to start the multipad with the correct timing with play along with the style tempo ?

@@pietropavan777 no you can match the tempo. It syncs with the style of midi multipads and if you’re using audio you make sure the tempo of the audio file is set to a tempo that doesn’t have 120.952 - has to be 120.
