I'm an adult and the JR1 was one of my first guitars, got it at the age of about 11 and to this day I play my jr1 the most out of all my guitars for when im just sitting around strumming. I absolutely love the sound of it and the size is nice for just sitting on the couch watching tv or for travel.

Hi, would you recommend this as a beginner guitar?
@geargeeks89555 жыл бұрын
I say yes, even though it's a 3/4 size guitar. Mainly because the actual fretboard is really close to a normal size fretboard and will not give you Bad fingering habits. Meaning when you go to a full size guitar you're fingering won't be off from this size of smaller guitar. you will be fine! This was the biggest factor when I purchased this guitar.

This really is a pretty good guitar. I bought my 6 year old son the mini Fender and it plays good (why I bought it), but it sounds cheap and has trouble staying in tune no matter what I do...I played this exact same Yamaha soon after and wish I had bought it instead. The Fender was slightly less expensive, but the Yamaha is better in all categories. I think I am going to get him the Yamaha anyway. He has really taken to it, is practicing a lot, and is showing a lot of interest and promise. He needs a better instrument. Thanks

I am surprised. I play my Martin d-35 and my mini fender in the same session!..the Fender play so well that I did the video only because of its cost and ability... I'm hoping you only got the one that was bad out of the bunch. If you have a chance pick another one up some place and see if it plays the same. I've played a few and they all done very well. I've had people laugh at me when I take it out of the bag but once I get playing there impressed of the guitar..Sorry for your experience!!
@Southernguitar744 жыл бұрын
It plays very good, like I said, but it is tinny sounding and it really struggles to stay in tune. I realize small guitars typically have some troubles staying in tune, but I have played others that are not as challenged...This particular model is the FA-15. Not bad at all for a beginner. Heck I even play it sometimes at home.

Do you prefer this Yahama Jr2 over the Grestch Jim dandy travel guitar? Are the strings steel or nylon? And have you ever played the Yahama GL1 guitarlele? I have one and its Funtastic! I'm finally learning to pay a stringed instrument. I picked the guitarlele because ot it's small size and it still has six strings so it will make my transition to guitar quite easy. I find regular size guitars to big. Anyways, looking forward to your answers! Great video!
@geargeeks89555 жыл бұрын
Hello, it is a steel string. And the transition from this to a full size guitar is pretty much only the body size because I felt the board itself was close to a regular size board. I did sit at my local Guitar Center and went through all the ones they had their! maybe 7. I didn't actually remember the names .it was more of a blind audition as I went through each one of them. This particular guitar I bought online because my Guitar Center didn't have it. This guitar I tried out because a friend of mine's child was playing hers and I loved it. Dont think that I won't try the two models you mentioned earlier because I will. Mainly because I can't help myself. Right on!

@@geargeeks8955 Hi, I got a flat capo based on your recommendation, but I think a curved capo would have been better. the capo I got is Victor by Dunlop and when I put the capo on and start to tighten it with the screw, it "capos" the middle strings but the high and low E string buzz, so I need to screw it tighter and when I do that it sharps the middle strings, I don't think the same thing will happen with a curved capo.
