This drum, originally developed for arena marching, is as close to my idea of a drumset snare as has seen full-scale production; I'd probably use either a Remo Falams White Max or Evans MX Gold batter, and a Remo Diplomat or Evans Resonant for the snare-side.

@wiirluvenit Marching snares are tuned very tightly so that you can clearly hear the articulation of each stroke from each player. Furthermore, it allows for faster and more complex rhythms.

@treeofmedia They use the term "Indoor" to simply symbolize that this snare is intended for indoor marching corps. Playing it outside won't effect it's sound.

I have and use this same model 9"x14" snare on my drum set. LOL I've used Free Floating snares since the 80's, and I finally broke the lug tubes on my Pearl 8"x14" Brass FFS, but they no longer make the tubes for it. So, I had to buy a new snare, and I found one of these on E-bay and took a chance. | The one I bought has a white and purple marble finish with Black hardware. I removed the nylon snares and simply put a set of standard 20-strands on. It rings like crazy, so I had to put a Remo Muff'l under the top head.... and with a low tuning it sort of has a "Def Leppard" kind of sound - which works, because I'm playing Metal and/or "Arena rock" kind of rock.

@ajcf1995 Both are great drums companies, its a really hard question to answer like ive seen some shitty pearls but also seen some amazing ones just like ive seen with yamaha, it just depends on how you maintain them, both has pros and cons to them

@wiirluvenit its easier to play faster when the head is super tight ad staccato, because you get more rebound, and its easier to clean with less ovetones. I personally think it sounds extremely unmusical, I prefer my 17 x 18 rope tension field drum to chop out on
@pbProductions9613 жыл бұрын
@DynuhstyzHD no there just like the regular ones but shorter...

@wiirluvenit its also so the the sound cuts more over all the brass, if the drums were tuned really low and not so tight the sound wouldnt cut and you wouldnt be able to hear them

@wiirluvenit Well im pretty sure this isnt going to be the best answer but its just the way marching snares has evolved kinda like how most drumines or corps doesnt use straps anymore, and core now a days have a high demand in clarity so snares now are more like a snap than a traditional snare sound, hope this helps

@SomeGuyDrumming Such as Cooperman would manufacture; they specialize in reproduction 19th Century and sooner military field drums packing lacing on bass drum-style wood hoops and twisted gut snare strands through purpose-cut holes in the reso hoop. With nylon lacing and Remo Coated Pinstripe batter/Emperor Snare resonant heads, such a drum can be played in nearly all weather.

@wiirluvenit MArching snares are tightened so much because it shows the level of precision of the corps/players. If they weren't tuned so tightly, it would sound like a bunch of crap pooping out of an ass.
