In My Honest Opinion as Someone who has been playing and touring with the Montage since its Release back in 2016 I’m a bit disappointed with this release! 😢 I was really hoping for Added Hardware Features Like Bluetooth Audio Streaming For Practicing, Bluetooth MIDI To connect To Other Devices Wirelessly. WiFi For Updating Software / Firmware Easily without the need of a Computer or USB. Also Dual or Stereo XLR / 1/4 in Combo Inputs Jacks for a Microphone 🎤 & XLR Balanced Outputs! Also a dedicated USB Audio Knob like on the MODX & MODX+. This seems more like a Software update at Most. I’ll stick with my OG Montage for another 7-8 years or until Yamaha gets it right or what the actual customers want!

Where is the sequencer and sampler? $5000 a pop and I can't sample a record or sequence a beat without being hooked to a computer?
@JohnnyADi Жыл бұрын
@@JMMinistries wifi and Bluetooth? Your expectations are beyond unrealistic. 99% of instruments and even Synths don't have these features. And for that audio knob, for my use case it's mostly a stationary setup and I find it's better to run all devices through my akai mpc x anyway. Plus I have a Korg Kronos and the mpc x for sampling and sequencing. The yamaha montage as specified by yamaha isn't a workstation, it's a synthesizer. A korg Kronos is a work station, I can assure you if their response to the montage m doesn't have the features you're asking for, then you really have some fantasy ideas for features on even flagship instruments from these prestigious brands that know how to make kickass instruments.
@JohnnyADi Жыл бұрын
@@Charlesbabbage2209 yamaha specifically mentions its a synthesizer and not a workstation. Get a korg if you want sequencing and sampling or a whole other system to do so. Even on my Kronos I prefer to use other methods of sequencing and sampling. All in one instruments with every feature simply don't exist. Yamaha does what it does best, kicked Roland's ass with this release of their own analog engine. And a nord? Just use the plug in they are creating for the montage m and use a komplete control s88 mk2, even with nords own sound library or better yet any other sound library, as nords isn't the best in the business. Use FX pedals like the meris lvx and the Empress effects zoia. Chase bliss pedals make these Synths more powerful than they could ever wish to be. And hardware daws like the akai mpc x eliminate the need to include all these things in these instruments to keep the piece and weight down. Also remember everything needs to fit in a 6X key form factor and not a 7X or 88 key. If you want an all in one instrument, make your own custom housing, and slam all the boards together.

@jord_ibe Жыл бұрын
So why do you keep using their stuff?
@js-sound Жыл бұрын
@@jord_ibe I really like the AN1x because it was made by good people and there were no bad markerologists in Yamaha back then. I have modified Montage 8 and AN1X. I make super good presets. Sometimes I play by myself, but I have a daughter who trains to play the piano. That's why I have Montazh 8. I can say that the heavy keys in Montazh are good. But everything else in the Montage is not mine! Why don't I sell it? Because no matter where you look, even if the synthesis is good, there is always something that may not work: the keys, the presence of a fan (Kronos) or the fact that over time it will not be reliable or it will be necessary to tear down the operating system and install everything again. I would have taken Roland Fantom, but I’ll tell you why I didn’t take it! I am a sound designer, Fantom has only 512 memory cells for user presets. For me this is a limitation, otherwise both Kronos and Phantom are superior to Montage, both old and new. If I sometimes didn’t want to play with FM sounds, or do something special with sounds in presets, if I could have a piano at home for my child, which needs to be constantly tuned and placed 30cm from the wall, I would not have bought either Montage or Kronos neither Fantom. All this is not a pressing need like it was 30 years ago. As soon as my daughter leaves our house, I will sell Montage and forget about Yamaha for the rest of my days. Yamaha is a bad dream, with short moments about small advantages that are very insignificant to respect Yamaha for their current policy on digital synthesizers. Today, if we are talking about a workstation, it must have super sound from a linear output (which is what my Montage now has) or have ADAT, SPDIF. On board the workstation, like Roland and Korg, there should be a bunch of synthesis, a lot of memory, a lot of possibilities in terms of modulation, and the manufacturer should not skimp and do so that “I didn’t hear the wishes of the users, but they ask, give us this, give us that, but we won't do it anyway! We will remove the sequencer in the first Montage, and we will say that its implementation is not possible in software. Yes, this will be our lie, but such is life! And in the second Montage, we will return the sequencer to its place, everyone will clap for us clap your hands and say Yamaha is smart!" This is a vile practice and must be fought against. That's why I'm Donkey Hot who fights against the windmill.

Thanks for this awesome intro Nick Semrad; Thanks GC for getting him to do it. I’m impressed by the Montage M8X. Bravo Yamaha. You are listening and creating what we need. With the promise of a vsti version, The Montage M is very close to what I’ve wanted in a hardware workstation for a while. There is a lot to like here. A LOT! A few downsides I see are 1) the possible learning curve for those new to montage/modx workflow and 2) the limited physical outputs. The included 32x6 audio interface is great but only having 4 hardware outputs to route to somewhat limits the possibilities. I wish Yamaha would have went with the input/output options similar to Roland’s current Fantom. 6 assignable outputs plus cv gate outs is VERY handy for those who are blending hardware and software in live performance. Routing separate outputs is huge for FOH & monitor mixing.

This workstation is so sensibly designed super user friendly and easy to use. Best part is it has lots of controller and that can be super useful for live and production work. Some people prefer to use touch screen and some prefer buttons it has both. Montage is already established and this one is perfect upgradable keyboard with minimal price increases and bunch of new sounds and unmatched control facilities. Love the ANX synth it sounds so fantastic. Overall it’s much better product then existing Montage and currently no other workstation can match to new Montage M series. Only thing I felt little bad that no polyphonic after touch on the 6/7 so surprised because now days musicians prefer portable products so obviously more selling keyboards are 6 & 7. I have a one question see if you know and you can answer me. My question is can II used Montage’s user sounds on this? Because this keyboard is way ahead than Montage so there must be so many changes in parameters and there are so many Montage users in the market and they can asked this questions. Nice demo…Love the keyboard. All the best to Yamaha and all the dealers for better business. Thank you 🙏 ❤

Forget about AN1x in the new Montage. This is the same fake as FS1r and FM-X. The difference between these engines is like between the Opel Corsa (Montage with FM-X) and Lamborghini (FS1R is the best FM synthesizer). I have AN1X. It has cool filters, some of the best in all VA synthesizers, the filter sounds no worse than a bunch of analogue ones. Waveforms and a couple of goodies will be added to Montage, but it will in no way resemble a real AN1x engine. At the time when AN1x was being made, there were still smart people in this brand. Now there are only fucking marketers left.

@@petrikytoBecause I ride a bike! ,-) All jokes aside, Yamaha lost again. And only stupid people will buy this worthless synthesizer, which supposedly has at least something better. I’m silent about AN1X! What I hear with the AN1X engine is not AN1X! I won’t sell my AN1x, and prices for old synthesizers will only rise. Do you really believe that a company that has not released anything other than “sample playback” stations for 30 years after 30 years of stagnation will be able to repeat its old legendary synthesizers? It would be more likely to be Uli Behringer than Yamaha itself. Yamaga "fired" all the smart employees and hired “specialists” in the field of “sample playback.” There is no way they can repeat either FS1R or SY99 or AN1X. But I understand that it is more important for Yamaha supporters not to realize the fact of Yamaha’s insolvency, but what is more important is to have faith in Yamaha’s words. And Yamaha said “yes, we made AN1x, you'll get it guys!” And everyone unanimously believed her, as in everything else. With such fans, Yamaha stays afloat and stands in the same place and does not move from it. While people support Yamaha, its competitors are already investing money in innovations and developments that are much more interesting than a playback sample.

I was wondering the same thing. From what I've seen on the spec sheets, there is indeed a 16 track sequencer. That being said, if I'm ordering one of these bad boys, I want to talk to a real person who can confirm that's indeed the case. For the kind of money these things cost, not having a sequencer would definitely be a huge 'no go' for me.

4:11 Sounds like straight out of a Tekken emotional sequence..
