Hey, what a wonderful channel! Please do more detailed tutorials, also with some quick recap about synthesis theory. Here is all nice and dandy, BUT I have some trouble with understanding all you are talking. Not every button is shown on the full keyboard, and when you press something outside the screen, it's quite hard to follow! Also, in this very tutorial, I missed information what exactly IS this misterious FEG - Frequency Envelope Generator, what is ENVELOPE, how it works, etc. Now as it it - it's a wonderful source of precious wisdom, but for me it is also hard to grasp all at once! :) I would like to see how a pure sine wave is working with FEG, and I would love to see how all different knobs change it to something wonderful... :) Can you do that for us, mere youtuber watchers? :) And a Montage is a really BEAST, I have it for several years and it is still surprising me to this day!

@ timecode 1:35 In the Performance -> motion control-> Overview page. Here you have A "Function Control" at the right top. and 3 buttons "Performance control", "Part Control" and "Elem/Op Control". If I go to the same page i only have "Part Control" and "Elem/Op Control", but no "Performance control" and it is named "Element Control" above. Why do I not have the last option? My MODX is Firmware 2.52.

your videos are great. I learn a lot from it. I have a question... I have modx6 but looking for an upgrade... Which one do you think should be the best between Modx6, Fantom 06 and fantom 6. I prefer fantoms because of its step sequencers but at the same time noticed that fantom 06 doesn't have a very good reputaion/reviews like modx/montage. can you plz help?

Fantom 06 and Fantom 6 do not have a great arpeggiator, I.e. only one arpeggio at the time, is that a problem for you?

@@soundformore umm could be a problem as I use arpeggiator per track..

The Fantom 06 or 6 have only one arpeggiator instance, you can run that on multiple tracks but it will produce only one arpeggio. It cannot produce different arpeggios per track. You have an option with step LFO to change notes as sounds is active for some notes on the Zen Core engine, but they are not really arpeggios… if you want to keep multiple arpeggios and have different arpeggios per track like the Montage or Modx, than Fantom is not the right choice. The new Jupiter X and the new Juno X from Roland though have I-Arpeggios that does allow multiple arpeggios but they do not have sequencers, they are more like performance synths…it is a shame as if the Fantom had arpeggios like the Montage and Modx I would recommend it… of course you can control the Fantom Tracks using an external arpeggiator?

@@soundformore let me tell you one thing- your reply saved me a lot of $$ .. I think I owe you some of them 😁 lol.. I was about to buy one used fantom 6 but knowing this, I won’t go for that.. I love MODX.. it solves my purpose but only thing I don’t like in MODX is the sequencer .. I wish yamaha would have implemented the step sequencer.. in that case nothing more I could ask from MODX!! It’s powerful, most importantly light and versatile!! Samples are really great!! Anyways, thanks again.. you have a great day!! Is there any way to reach you directly so that I can ping/email you whenever I come across any doubt/questions plz?
