Any bike is beginner bike, as long as you have few bolts left in your head, my first bike is cbr600rr 09. Everybody tought I'll fly with it to stars but, I'm still here. Be careful respect machine and you will be fine, bike only goes when you twist the throttle. My first 25 km was around my block, it's easy . And don't be scared of bike, but respect the bike. It can kill you, not just fast bikes , any bike can kill.

MT09 is a good commuter. It has comfort for regular riding, and enough power to get away in an instant. For long range it's a good choice because of the upright sitting position I would say 9 out of 10 for price to performance. It loses a point to jerky behavior, but gains that point back for the optimal fun experience the bike gives.

The guy I usually ride with started on an MT09, he did the MSF course and grew up riding ATVs, so that helped. He just took it easy for the first 2K or so miles, left it in B mode TC 2. The MSF course would be a wise idea if you’re starting on something fast. I started on a Z650, no MSF, but I was confident in my ability to teach myself, watching YT videos for instruction.

CC always talking good ways to save money. Everything you buy depreciates with many items ending up in trash. Companies I continually use or buy from, I buy stocks to counter the deprecation. Amazon, Apple, Netflix, Hulu, etc. I bought a Tesla recently so I bought stocks as well as the car.(shares $125 at that time, now $1300/share). That new Yamaha buy 80% cash, finance 20% and use that 20% in Yamaha stocks. YOUR MONEY WORKING FOR YOU VS WORKING FOR YOUR MONEY. Invest in your company vs just buying depreciating products. Day trading, stock market, more like gambling vs long term goals. Banks will give u 0.5%-1.5% CD’s where a low risk index fund averages 8%. If not invested in stock Market(America is the stock market) you will end up in a trailer still living paycheck to paycheck. Thx CC for discussing financial independence and no reliance on the government.. I bought solar panels to be energy free. I can not control healthcare costs but can control other costs

I agree, the MT09 has too much power for a beginner... My first "bike" was a 50cc scooter. My first motorcycle was a FZ07 (MT07). It was very snatchy in first and second gear. Almost got in trouble a few times... Staring on a scooter is best, easy to pass the motorcycle DMV test with and no "overwhelming" power, plus you can learn the streets. Also as a beginner, you won't get overwhelmed with learning how to use a clutch and shift gears... Love the new bike!!!

I restarted riding a bike on a 100cc scooter in Asia. I agree it helped with learning the street and handling other road user. When you upgrade to a bigger bike with more power, you have less to worry when on the road.

@@flyinghigh2000 Me too, 110cc automatic scooters and then a Chinese rip off 'Honda Win' 100cc in Vietnam. Came home to the UK, got a 125, rode it 10 months, traded it in for a 2018 MT-07, rode that for almost exactly 2 years and traded it in for an MT-09 SP. I think it is really best to learn all the basic stuff - like machine control at low speed, road positioning and reading the road etc - on a 125 or 250cc bike. Then when you get to bigger bikes, you won't make the kinda basic mistakes that'll really get you in trouble with more power on tap.

For me a 400 or a tame 650 is more fun than bigger bike. Smaller bikes are fun because you can wrangle all the power from it. Bigger bikes are good for long distance touring since you can stay in 3rd and still reach the speed limit and navigate turns.

Smaller engine size, low to medium power motorcycles, are much more fun to ride especially for beginner riders. It just makes sense from every perspective to start with a lower power bike. You then ensure your first year or two encourages a happy relationship with riding. Starting on a beast of a bike will not give a new rider the same kind of riding joy and peace of mind to learn the basics well.

I started on a 500cc and I’m glad I did. It had enough power for the highway but was forgiving of mistakes with the throttle. I never did an all-out whiskey throttle, but there were times when I twisted too hard and a more powerful bike might have made me pay. One thing you didn’t mention is cost. I wouldn’t want to crash on a $9,000 motorcycle as a new rider. Nobody plans on crashing or dropping the bike, but it’s more likely when you’re just starting out. Even a little dumb crash in a parking lot could cost lots of money.

This is true, i bought a brand new one last year and the insurance alone was around 1,200 each year, said screw it and bought liability since the bike was payed off. Rode it fine with no troubles on a-mode, I'm not into wheelies or whiskey throttle.. only the occasional burst of speed. Saved around 1,000 bucks, i don't however recommend liability for any noob out there or seasonal rider. Bike otd, fees doc ect was 8,900. Sold it off 1 month ago intact, loved every bit of it. I believe modes doesnt reduce the power. It only adjust the sensitivity of the throttle. A - full balls to wall STD - in the middle B - rain mode Also for the exhaust. Best sounding based on reviews is arrow. Performance wise is the akra racing line. Might run a little lean but reflash not required. But best to work with a block off plate and high flow filter. Akra underbelly is a little heavy maybe because theres catcon inside. Also set your CO to +14 in all cylinder. Hth

Been in a few situations that I know I could've crashed if I wasnt on the 400 and it was mainly due to learning with counter steering. But after putting alot of miles of riding and making sure I was comfortable and confident on moving up I pulled the trigger and did the trade

The modes are not really power modes but they control when the throttle power comes on, in every mode the power is the same. I use the STD mode on my FZ10 for canyon carving because it's easier to control in the twisties and is my default mode for cruising. Your bike is not a beginner bike simply because you have to know how to master throttle control. A buddy of mine couldn't stand the on off throttle on his MT09 he immediately traded it for a sportster without trying to deal with the tuning. I guess it worked out for him since he only cares about cruising.

Throttle doesn’t like bumps in the road either. Whatever you do leave the factory throttle slack in there. I couldn’t imagine this bike with no throttle play. I can’t tell you how many times I hit a bump or a pothole mid corner and sent the bike off course because the throttle engaged just a hair. If I know I’m doing lots of twisties out in the street I put in in b mode to avoid it. When I get on other bikes, even those with way more power, they don’t scare me at all compared to this bucking bronco. Still feels the fastest of any bike I’ve ridden 0-60 and I’ve ridden the Tuono Factory, MT10, R1, R6, Indian FTR1200, VRod Muscle, Valkyrie, Octanes, and Speed Triple.

My first bike is the mt 09 2017 and i love it. Buy it couple months ago and for my is a perfect bike. I have no bike experience. But its a light bike thats good in curves. I feel confident on this bike. I always drive in standaard modes never in A modes! But what i sad for my is the perfect bike that does not mean its for everyone!! Nice video and drive save!

I know this review was before the new mt09. I personally think that it is a good beginner bike on the new mt09 cause you can put it in different levels. Newer version is all smooth not like the older ones. I personally want the power and you went to a mt07. I know everyone has their limits and I wouldn't want anyone to ride past their limits! Mt07 sounds better I think but I prefer the more power. Good video and every video is different with people on this bike. Ride safe and have a great day!

After one year of riding I went to a cbr600rr, despite it's aggressive riding position I think it's a better cruiser than the mt-09 because of how smooth the throttle and acceleration is. That mt-09 looks like a budget bike.

My very first bike was a brand new fz-09. I kept it in C mode for the first year or so and it was the greatest learning experience. It’s all about respecting the power of the bike, knowing your limits and gradually building up your ability to utilize it to its full potential. What I would say to a beginner rider is to experience it but not be an asshole with it lol.

Started on a cbr 600. But I rode dirt bikes as a kid. Just got a crf450l Enduro and it's way harder to ride than my cbr. The throttle is super sensitive and it does wheelies on accident lol. I think sport bikes are easiest for beginners because they're low to the ground. I usually recommend a 600 just because the 300s are incredibly slow. You won't get in trouble with a 600 unless you give it full throttle in first gear! Cruisers aren't bad bikes but they all handle horrible at slow speeds and turning.

I’m really surprised you’re not mentioning the WR250R as a great first bike... it’s a bit tall but it’s the best dual sport bike for the price and you don’t have to worry if your gps takes you down a dirt road or a poorly maintained road as much as you would on a sport bike or naked, also there’s a very slim chance you will damage it, and it allows you to figure out what kind of riding you like to do since it can do just about everything.

All these people wanting an MT07, get a Z650, trust me. It's got almost the same power, better low end but with much higher quality suspension, better handling and SIGNIFICANTLY better throttle and brake feel, costs the same as an MT too, or maybe even an older ER6N, trust me, you'll be much happier.

If you're just starting out my advice would be to buy a cheap used 250 and learn and practice with it. Take your test with it. You're never gonna have an easier time passing the test than on a light and nimble 250. After learning the clutch and shifting and riding a few days I was already able to do figure 8's and circles. Never rode before in my life. Then when you're ready, sell it and buy a bigger bike. You can take the classes, but I know around here they've been canceled because of the Covid. I think id rather just schedule the test and breeze through in 10 minutes on a 250 then waste 2 days in class anyway.

I put a lot of miles on a FZ-09 and I have to agree. There are too many better options out there for beginner riders. The last thing you want is a bike that you are intimidated by when you are leaning and riding on the streets. It's a pretty raw motorcycle but that is what makes it so much fun. Nice color choice on the MT09!

That sucks C.C. if that throttle has that kind of delayed response. I drove a flatbed truck like that. I used to hate when the engine finally kicked in. In the city that is bad. Because the motor kicks in right before you get to the next traffic light.

b mode got power lol i dont think so, iv cranked b mode all the way n wasnt too impressed, depends how much power u used to i guess, ive twisted the throttle real hard on litre bikes, to me b feels slow as fuck kinda like a scooter, and standard feels a little sluggish, but a great ride still and enuf power for sensible fun, i do agree that a mode has a shit load a power tho this is my fav bike best bike iv ever owned even tho it isnt i just like it way more than any other bike ive ridden, mt09 def most fun and fav bike for me i gonna ride it forever, even in heaven

I think imma do this.. I'm 6'7 240lbs and I cant do some small bike.. Another thing I noticed on all of these videos is nobody is mentioning lowering the power.. In my country, until youre 23 or have at least 2 years of motorcycle riding experience you cant get a bike stronger than 35kW and its called A2 category.. So I think Imma get 09 in A2 and later remove the restriction to get 70kw

If you're a new rider absolutely do not get this bike. I went through the same thought process. You have nothing to gain and everything to lose. Even these 650's have a lot of power for a beginner. The first time I got on a Kawi 650 I thought it was going to suck and I was absolutely amazed by how fast it was.

MT-09 is know as a hooligan bike. Yamaha's bike is way more prone to wheelie due to the bikes chassis/geometry and it doesn't have wheelie/traction control. If you want a triple as a beginner go for the Triumph Street Triple. Much better throttle, doesn't wheelie out of nowhere due to much better chassis/suspension and has the electronics to keep you safe.
@assortedpov
@assortedpov 4 жыл бұрын
I've had an MT-09 SP for two and a half weeks. It doesn't "wheelie out of nowhere". I've just reached 600 miles and the front wheel's only slightly lifted as a power wheelie on one occasion. TC on level 1 since I picked it up and A mode the majority of the time (done maybe 100 miles in std mode). If you have throttle control, it's not gonna power wheelie everywhere.
