Yamaha mt10 mods install - lowering linkages & comfort seat install

Quick video installing a pyramid seat cowl, yamaha comfort seat, lowering linkages and a carbon fibre tail light cowl on my 2016 Yamaha MT10.

So in addition to the rear lowering links did you address the front end as well? Seems like lowering the rear and keeping the front stock the bike would tend to be lazy in the corners since changing the rake that way lends itself to more stable in a straight line at the cost of cornering ability. I am in the short inseam club as well so I may do this however I will try and see if I can do the same in the front end by making some shims to install inside the forks to lower the same amount, that way the stock rake is retained. How is the ride after the links, have you put enough time on it to know how different it feels in comparison to before on road with lots of turns?? BTW nice bike, I love mine.

Thanks mate, really the inch and a half drop didnt affect the overall handling of the bike. In saying that I don't do track days and push the bike to its limits. You could compensate by lowering the front forks in the triples the same amount but it wasn't an issue for me.

Some linkage suppliers for the MT10 suggest the front forks can also be slid up the triple clamps to level out the change, do you know if this is possible ?

Yes that sure is possible all you need to do is loosen off the forks in the clamps and push them up to the desired height 👍

What is the lowering kit like for your handling? I may be getting an mt10 that is 30mm lower but i also track ride so i dont want to drag pegs or totally screw the handling

I dnt do track days or get a knee down on corners so I never really noticed much of a difference for road use. Was much better for my height of 5'10" so I wasn't on the tips of my toes at lights

This is an older post but thought I'd ask! Now that you've had a year to ride on that new comfort seat, how do you like it vs the stock one? Worth the money? Does the seat adjust the riding angle?

I sold the bike after 2 months of fitting the seat. The seat is much more comfortable and I definitely recommend it. The seating angle is similar to stock however it sits you about an inch higher.

Where did you get the links and cowling?

I bought it all off ebay man. The links came from the U.K and carbon fiber cowl from China.

Just running some cheap ebay ones which the previous owner installed. The brand states they are evo1 levers, like an evotch knock off. Im looking at buying some better quality ones in the future, but man those ASV levers at $330 a pop are pricey.

You can lower the front by dropping the forks in the triple trees but I didn't feel the need

No sir I can't say I noticed any difference in handling with road riding. That being said I never did any track days where I truly tested the bike.

@@jordanlake4443 yeah its definitely real carbon fiber, it didn't fit in place 100% and I took to it with a small file to wear down a few high points on the sides. Otherwise its really sturdy and looks nice

Kinda ricer in a way. Cheap ebay plastic parts on a already very well built bike is a shame. But if you like it rick on. I have a A2021 Raven I ordered the comfort seat and the luggage. I got the luggage after 13 months but I'm still waiting on my seat. Love the MT 10.

Each to their own mate, the plastic tail light cowl which comes stock on the bike is also cheap plastic hence why they're notorious for breaking. The carbon fibre cowl is much more sturdy.
