THANK YOU! Just bought the same model with the same issue. Question: did you end up replacing the belts and/or the e-clips on the plastic gears? Also, any suggestions on removing those clips? They’re giving us quite the challenge.
@3rdisland4774 жыл бұрын
Hi Ruben, you need to remove the flywheel holder to replace the main flat belt , e locks are very easy to remove and replace again , please watch my Tascam porta One to learn how to , as both Yamaha and Tascam adopt the same mechanism, thanks and good luck

What a great video. Do you do these repairs? I have this deck and I'm positive it needs this same repair. But I am definitely not the guy to do this job.

Thanks for all your information, Great Video! I wonder if you can help. I have the same Yamaha MT2X. As I press, the palay button, rewind or fast forward it automatically engages the stop mechanism after a second or so. If I hold the play button down I get a constant clicking every few seconds which is the mechanism trying to self-stop. I had a look at the transport system and tried to isolate the issue. It seems to be the very top cog on the far left-hand side, It is turned by the above pully, and once every rotation it engages the auto-stop mechanism. The pulley wheel at the top of the cog is always turning via the belt that goes around under part of the flywheel. The only thing I can imagine is that this engages and disengages for certain scenarios, mine is permanently engaged therefore continuously auto stopping on each cycle. I'm not too sure if I'm right or wrong on this presumption? Do you have any ideas what this could be? I would gratefully appreciate any ideas as I have tried quite a few times now to fix it and it always ends up with me putting it back together and scratching my head for a long time! :)

Hi, thanks for your kind comment, seems your mechanism has a multi issuse, belt, takeup role, dry and stucked gears, and perhaps more, it needs for completely refurbishing, cleaning and lubrication, if you are not experienced in electronics you may can not fix it by your self or you may increase the damages, if you are interested, I can fix it for you

@@3rdisland477 thanks so much for getting back to me. I think I might just sell it for parts as when I bought it it was only £85, they thought it worked but said the belts were slipping so I took a gamble. As soon as I got it I change the belts so I don't know if it had this stopping problem to begin with. With new belts on I tried it and had this problem. It's not in the most pristine condition so I think I may buy a good quality 4 track then take you up on a service and any ongoing issues. I would like to use a good tour track for many projects so I think it's worth investing in a good one now. Are the Yamaha is as easy to service as the Tascam's? I have a few models in mind that I wouldn't mind owning, just wondered whether there was much difference between them maintenance wise. When I get one that's in decent condition would I just shipped the unit to you for a good once over and you ship it back? I'm based around Herefordshire, are you far?

Do you have a way of contacting you by email as I have a few questions on a project I would like to do with a 4 track, to get some CV working on it. I wondered if you can convert anything like that? Als I could do with talking about services. Cheers Ed

Hi buddy thanks for showing this, I've got the same machine (had it since new) and my problem is the heads are stuck on with the tape in side. I can just prize open the bottom about half an inch under the play/rec buttons for access.. I'm looking for the mechanism to unlock manually. Any tips greatly appreciated, thanks

Hello dear friend, great video. I managed to find a replacement knob for my Yamaha mt1x. I thought I was all finished with my repairs until I tried to switch it on and it doesn't even light up lol. My guess is that the power transistor has blown up. What do you think?, It's the three pin one closest to the power switch inside the machine.

1st check the voltage and polarity from power supply, then go furtherly, good luck

@@3rdisland477 I just did that and it's still the same lol. That's why I think the power transistor has blown. It didn't come with a power supply and when I put the correct one in it was just dead. I hope you and your family are keeping well my friend. Regards. Paul.

Hi friend I managed to get it to power on but now the diode next to the power in jack is overheating so I feel there is a definite short somewhere. Kind regards. Paul.
@spooktasticaparanormal4 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I got it going and then the power inlet diode blew up lol. It was because of a short in one wire that had become trapped between a potentiometer outer casing shorting it to ground. Then I thought what's that smell?. The diode was frying. So I just ordered another. Then that should be it. But hey I love the fault finding lol. Blessings to you and your family dear friend. Regards. Paul.

Hi 3rd island. My mt2x had a broken head base with a broken spring. I followed your other video but when I get down to the head base and have removed all the screws, the front part is glued to the metal under it. Have you ever dealt with this? I cannot remove it. Any way to dissolve that glue? Can't remove it and get to the spring otherwise I can see the plastic and spring are both broken so I know this is the issue.
