The pan was working - the guitar that is being panned is the rhythm guitar (super low in the mix). You can hear it with headphones.

Is the playback supposed to be super fast?

I'm unsure what you mean by super fast. The playback should be the same speed as the record speed. If the pitch of your recording is much higher upon reproduction, I recommend changing your belts.

If you’re playing a tape that’s not from the 4 track, like a regular cassette of music, then yes it plays back faster. It runs at a faster speed to give you a better recording quality.

Sounds great! What pedals are you using on the guitar? Or is the overdrive coming from the mixer itself?

Thanks! There are no pedals. It's the overdrive from the mixer.

Of course. You will need an XLR to 1/4" cable.

Maxell XLII - it's always recommended to use high bias cassettes with these machines.
