Totally agree about new design. Without fresh ideas life would be boring and we would never move on. That road leads down to the albatross colony, great cafe at the end with great views, but it's up a dirt track if I remember right. Great vid guys. 👏🏍

I've ridden the Niken on my channel. Its a great machine, we were lucky to get the full Yamaha technical briefing and got to see the 'Naked' Niken. There does appear to be a reluctance amongst the British biking community to accept this as a bike. "Its a trike" "Its ugly!" "You can not filter on it" ........ you can of course filter on it. I'm glad Yamaha have built it but don't think it will be a big seller over here.

I've ridden the Piaggio MP3 for 3 years now which has the 2 front wheel configuration. Due to back injuries from playing Rugby as a prop forward in my youth.. the SI joint is shot and prevents me getting over a bike :( The 2 wheel scooter with the lockable suspension allows me to take the weight if the back is playing up, and the step thru allow me to ride... The additional contact and extra disk brake are brilliant in the wet..... Good on you both for taking out the Niken

I recently went and test rode an MT09 ,I think its the same triple engine. Quite torquey ,be good for the gritted roads come winter...but don't bin the beamer for it ,more bike reviews please -stay safe

I enjoyed the video and your thoughts on the bike, love decent bike videos from NZ. There is a GT version with added extras for touring bits which I’m sure you’re aware of by now. The biggest issues I can see for this bike are cost and perception. Edit: Btw apparently the ticket is to put a sportier rear tyre on them because as you become more confident they’re exposed as rear grip limited.

Cool design and sweet road. Thanks for sharing. I think the only that gets me is now instead of 2 tires to change, you have 3. Instead of 2 forks to change oil in, you have 4 and whatever else you might have to service on the front end. It just puts the cost of ownership that much higher. But besides that, I think it looks pretty damn cool and something I would like to try.

@@abritablondeabike That Yamaha is a weird looking bike. At the show there was a stripped down chassis showing how the system works, cantilever etc. Felt very wide to sit on. Love to get a demo. Back to the show again Friday to buy some gear this time.

Hey I was in NZ last week driving from Lake Tekapo to Christchurch and saw several of these weird machines go past. I assume it was part of the Niken launch. Read about it yesterday in MCNews.

It is a bit ugly but the added functionality is worth it. I actually ride a TriCity as a daily driver, the scooter that the Niken was based on, because the roads here (in Beirut) are so poor and that additional wheel has saved me through countless potholes, sand, rocks, oil patches, random debris... Unfortunately the traffic here makes larger bikes impractical otherwise I would looking to order the Niken myself.

I have just sold a bmw 1250 RT a amazing I currently have a Honda CRF 300 rally But I am definitely going to test ride a Niken .I no it looks mad. But am really impressed with the handling Thanks
