I have now done 16.000 km on mine on all types of weather (I do not have a car). I have been riding motorbikes for the last 45 years, I have never felt that level of safety before. I had twice the front wheels drifting while going maybe a little two hard and .... nothing, the two wheels slide together and that's it. With any other bike I would have been picking up the pieces on the road. I have had also numerous times the rear drifting in bad conditions, but nothing too dangerous. Can't wait for the Bridgestone 32 to be available to see if with better tires it is possible to push further. I understand some may have troubles with the look, but the good news is that when your ride it, you don't see it ... The ultimate bike would be a Niken with the MT10 engine and a better wind protection. Mr Yamaha, ready when you are.

Thats fantastic just watched this video of in the rain wow what a machine. I have a gilera fuoco 500. And after seeing this time I get one and trade in the gilera I ride all year round also no car. This niken looks more stable than the gilera

Its awesome concept, I am riding in the rain and icy roads a lot and know how tense you feel in some situations but its too expensive for me, so I will have to make due with my YS 125.

Indeed, I've bought one, and have done 16000 miles, with a sticky rear its also a space-ship-like carver in the dry. It's fantasy motorcycling - it's cheating, (not least death). And lol yes there are probably more non wavers riding a Niken. Went to a race t5rack ride day recently on it ....of course it was brilliant (the steering effort and response speed have increased quite a lot over the miles although may have to tweak one or two of the steering heads soon) ....anyhow great vid too, thankyou.

Just an addition concerning the Bridgestone 32 I have now on the bike. Much better than the 31 in wet conditions. No more driffting and in better tune with the front, I have not experienced any issues so far. I am only at 21000 km with the bike by now due to more home working than usual. Ride safe

Had the niken gt for a year and rode it like a mf. But I managed to crash it on wet roads. As crazy as the front grip is, never forget the rear tire, it‘s just as sensitive on wet roads as a normal bike. Ride safe :)

The reason companies are starting to build these types of bikes, Aprilia is working on one of them as well, is to engage non-motorcyclists into motorcycling, to give them the much needed initial confidence to start riding, which increases the potential market for motorcyclists and higher end bikes in the futures. It is a funnel, we need more people enticed into motorcycling from the new generation, so as some of them grow in skills and preferences, they can move to other motorcycle models in the future and companies can continue selling motorcycles.

Loved the video 🤙🤙🤙 Im from the uk and havent ridden for 4 years but considering going on a year long plus european tour. The niken looks ideal for confidence in all weather riding. Im seriously considering one. Whats it like getting parts and servicing? [edit]. Also, does it feel top heavy? Im tall but skinny. Im used to r1s and fazers (still have an old Fazer 6 in my yard, gathering dust). Im not sure id get on with a top heavy bike.

I liked this bike from the moment it was introduced. Two things: isn't it a bit heavy for that 850 engine? I think it would benefit from some mechanism so that it can't fall over. Then it would be suitable for the disabled. And while I'm at it, the bags should be the ones on the Tracer GT, not these zipped jobs. Illuminting video.

You have two contact patches but not quite twice the grip if you think about it. You have two patches which can slide sideways a bit and won't be as susceptible to a pebble or gravel but you have to split the down force between those patches.

Tires are nonlinear though so while you're right it's almost certainly not double it's likely more than the normal amount.

@@nickcoulter973 This was something a couple of KZbinrs commented on (especially if running through cow manure that you sometimes encounter in the country), one even fitted mud flaps made from walking machine belt. It is not only rain but also what comes up from road works where the foundation is freshly whetted, that stuff attaches, builds up and hardens on your legs and boots. I'm considering mud flaps as much as I don't like the look of them. Are there things similar to handlebar boots for feet?

Yes. It doesn't "self-balance" or hold itself up. Even needs a sidestand. It's just a normal motorcycle but with two front wheels instead of one.

This motorcycle is simply underestimated by the ignorant and is usually only judged by its appearance. Nevertheless, this motorcycle would run better and more pleasantly with a 4 cylinder from the MT-10, for example, which would also provide a little more torque.
