what people don't realize is that Yamaha is one of a few hi-fi stereo equipment manufacturers that make professional musical instruments and recording gear. without yamaha, you wouldn't have music... not just for classical or jazz, but also synthesizers - all 70s/80s music/movies used yamaha gear. they are a company to be respected.

How do they SOUND. Any testing done. My impression is that they are too bright, clinical.would have mad sense in the $4000 price bracket.

@@hi-ficorner Festival of Sound - London. I think that they were attached to Yamaha flagship AS-3000 amp with some streamer as a source but not 100% certain. Anyway, great speakers imho but not far from the "old" NS-1000's . I personally like that crisp treble with its beryllium tweeter even though it can get quite fatiguing on a long listening session on some music genres. Unfortunately it's ridiculous price-tag is a major turn-off point for majority of audio enthusiasts.

1:01 You haven't seen high end Sony APM from the 80's then I take it :) All aluminium honeycomb sandwich, all square drivers :) Interesting that these weigh less than some of the older NS speakers these are based off of

...the piano black finish is not a paint job ( with NS777 definitely not )...i have a bad experience.. of its bubbling up,..its just a skin made out of some material and they have wrapped the speaker unit with this ....

...is this piano finish a vinyl wrap,...or a paint work? My experience with the NS777,...its a wrap...but it was mentioned as a brilliant paintwork at that time. Bit disappointed...not trying to compare with anything else....just love to know the truth

the NS777 is a entry level speaker with a Vinyl wrapped MDF enclosure.. It is nowhere near the quality of the NS-1000, 2000, 5000 or other high end entries. They use real lumber and real painted or stained finishes on the top tier products. you are trying to compare a $400 speaker to $20,000. speakers. there is no comparison.

best looking yet? probably. Best sounding? not in my opinion. They sounded boomi and lack the definition I was expecting. Drawing a parallel, the NS-2000 are almost impossible to make them to sound boomi and the clarity of the BE drivers is difficult to match. The NS-2000 bring different level of accuracy. Yamaha should have stayed with a sealed box and BE as other MFGs are still producing BE drivers...so not that dangerous to mfg. And yes, I did listen to the new 5000 speakers as part of the full 5000 system. No side by side comparison with the older Yamahas, so my assessment is as good as my perception and memory. YMMV BTW, the built quality of the NS-5000 is outstanding and definitely matches that of speakers at the same price point or higher.

I don't see any ports, Doesn't look like a bass reflex design to me. I have NS1000M speakers but have never heard the 2000 or 5000. maybe someday. I think a lot of the Boomi sound can be created by the room. a harsh and sterile room can make tight bass sound boomy IMO.

@@johnman334 the system was professionally installed in a high-end audio store listening room. Maybe not perfect but not a sterile room. Other systems within the same room did not sound the same. Look at the rear photo of the NS-5000s for the ports.

Great video, professional presentation. I've been listened these speakers tree times with a different real hi-end gears. Conclusion- for me and also for all my friend enough. Never more. Yamaha NS-1000 and all their "sisterships" are sonocally ones of the best since ever. P.S. All designers of 5000-s are🤡.

Hi-Fi Corner. I was looking for the review on the listening audition .Was curious of your impressions. Have you heard the NS-1000's? I still own my original pair and they still impress to this day. Really curious what the 5000's bring to the table.

@@gamebent I've had the NS1000s in the same room side by side the NS5000s, suffice to say the client upgraded! There are no similarities between these two speakers. @@gamebent Yamaha NS-5000 has all three drivers made of the same material - ZYLON bass woofer, ZYLON mid, and ZYLON tweeter. So it should give a better tonal balance across the spectrum. The Yamaha NS-1000 from the 70's had a beryllium mid, beryllium tweeter, and a paper bass woofer. So impossible for a matched tonality throughout the frequencies. Also lot's of other improvements including much better cabinet design externally and internally.
