It is an active subwoofer, not passive one. I doubt you have given amplified output to the subwoofer. That's why you got the problem. It only requires pre-amplified signal. Hope you understand.

Not an issue with any AVR, so it would suit my needs. Mainly for music and to replace my +20 yrs. old 6,5" active sub. I have no need for extremely loud extra deep low frequencies boost with large full range main speakers at Denon's LFE+Main mode. It's inexpensive and does the job. Only €139 in Europe.

@mikeeichacker8824 жыл бұрын
you have to set your receiver speaker settings to large cuz you have large speakers and then it will just out in the base of the subwoofer. I had this problem before if you don't set your speakers to large then your subwoofer is going to be overpowering and it's going to muffle.. also check your crossover you might have it on the wrong crossover
@bobdigi500 Жыл бұрын
That's quite literally completely wrong. If you're using a sub then all other speakers should be set to small regardless of the size. When you set the speakers to small the receiver diverts the bass to the sub and allows the speakers to concentrate on the mid and high frequencies. Setting the speakers to large tells the receiver to allow the speakers to handle some of the lows. That isn't a good idea as moat speakers aren't capable. This is why we are subwoofers. so set all speakers to small regardless of size.

It sounds like you have the volume turned all the way up on this sub. The volume is usually set very low to "blend" with the set of speakers. The entire point of a a subwoofer is to set the sound stage so that you don't even know a subwoofer is present. If you want rattling "teenage car bass" then you bought the wrong subwoofer. I have this subwoofer paired with a Yamaha Integrated amp and JBL Bookshelf speakers. It sounds absolutely amazing.

Hey, was wondering if you could help me. What kind of subwoofer would then cater to a teenage like car bass? Like that of a thumping while listening to music? I recently purchased a Yamaha 1840 system, while during movies it sounds great, music performance for bass is downright horrible. Some clarity would be appreciated

Check the manuals, positioning is very important. If you put a sub in to the middle of the room, the frequencies just cancelling eachother. An, our room is not a closed quare room. Subwoofers have different control options at the back. Volume and crossover are the common ones. www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/blog/the-five-cs-of-subwoofer-setup/ - use this link for general setup guide. You'll have to enable to sub in yamaha AVR. Go to settings - speakers and put Subwoofer option to USE.
@larryh.46293 жыл бұрын
Been reading the comments a few folk understand that a sub is not intended to become your bass but to add something to a speaker that may be falling short on the bottom end. Sorry you were not happy but if you don't understand what a sub is for drop a grand or two on a Rel and see if you get better results with the same setup you did this time. May not suck as bad but it's still going to suck. Best wishes. Too bad the ones that don't know any better how to set up a sub. Easy Blame the product not the person who set it up.. hopefully you learn, read, and most of all listen till you get it right. I'm very disappointed in your review. Sorry man just how I view it.
