Final thoughts on the Yamaha P-125: I was very interested in the Roland FP-30 but the lack of L/R 1/4” outputs was a dealbreaker, especially when the FP-30 cost $100 more than the Yamaha P-125. Roland added the 1/4” outputs to the FP-30X but that’s $150 more than the Yamaha P-125. After spending 2+ years watching and listening to every video and comparison of Yamaha, Roland, Korg, Kawaii, and Casio, etc., on KZbin I could find, all while wearing studio monitor headphones, the P-125 was the overall winner for me in various categories. I found the P-125s built-in sounds to be superior to all other brands, especially the Yamaha organ sounds and it’s emulation of a Fender Rhodes electric piano. As for Bluetooth not being built-in to the P-125, Yamaha offers a fairly inexpensive Bluetooth to USB Host adaptor for the P-125. This could be an advantage because as Bluetooth versions upgrade, Yamaha can keep its users updated with a new adaptor, should the updates to Bluetooth benefit P-125 users. So, maybe Yamaha engineers were smart NOT TO INCLUDE Bluetooth built-in to the P-125, but rather make it an optional (upgradable) accessory. One man’s opinion. Hope that helps others.

I have a P-125 and it's pretty good for playing classical music. The big downside is the key action, fast music like the Moonlight Sonata part 3 (played in this video) is very tedious to play as it is very hard to hit the notes at the far end of the keys. The internal speakers are also not too great for the low-end notes but they do the job. Right now, the only upgrade from the P125 I see worth buying is either something like a Yamaha U3 or a baby grand, which I don't have enough space right now for it. I guess that people that are more into electronic music/mixing see the P125 to be very limiting in terms of number of tones. I only play with the concert piano tone which is sampled from a CFX Yamaha Grand Piano, it's very nice to play with the headphones. The demo songs are nice but useless to be honest. The metronome is also useful but kind of hard to play with when you start changing the tempo type (4/4, etc.) since there is no LCD screen. I have yet to use the pianist app, this might help to adjust those things. Overall the P-125 does the job for beginner to intermediate at best, after that the key action really fall short.

I LOVE the action lol feels like my mom's old piano I grew up with lol should try getting the sub that came with mine! Love the player piano function as well but the bass is awesome. Maybe I got a newer model but even in guitar center it was over powering on the low end

@@anonimous_user7318 the pivot is short. This is a problem with a lot of lower end digital pianos. Basically it's like pushing a door from near the handle (easy) compared to pushing it near the hinge (hard). This is one of the main reasons why I ended up going for the kawai ES120 instead as it doesn't have this issue as bad and the action is better overall.

I can confirm that the P125 is not fantastic. It feels good for sustain-heavy music. When I play Moonlight Sonata part 3 on the P125, I really miss my P-515. The P125 is good only relative to the price, and it's light enough to be quite portable.

Nice review. For me there is something undefinably satisfying about this piano - maybe its the tactile feedback of the simulated string resonance on the default piano sound. My wish list for an updated model would be Bluetooth and a textured/ivory finish on the white keys. I can’t see Yamaha giving us a built-in LCD screen and upgrading the action at this price point, but I’ll be happy if I’m wrong!

Great video. I bought the P125 earlier in the year and have used it for short durations throughout the week. I really like the action having used a work station previously and don’t mind the voice limitations as I usually find a few favourites and use them almost exclusively. I love the reserved look of this piano. I connect the piano to an iPad occasionally and explore the app but mostly I just select the live grand or stage E. Piano and play some seventies feels. For my limited use this piano has been ideal. It has inspired me to play more and so my ability has markedly changed in the last year. After watching this video I will attempt to delve further into the app which I find very user friendly and so activate the super charged powerhouse 😂

I am thinking about getting a P125 because of its simplicity, and all of the other ones that have more features are not accessible for someone who is blind. One interesting thing I have to point out... I own both a P125 and a P115. Both have got the "GHS" key mechanism.. but they feel completely diffirent. Actually the P115 keys feel much more authentic to play. More like a real piano. Its crazy.. I owned the P125 long before I got the P115 but the P115 is sooo much better to play. P125 should be the same or an improvement but it clearly feels less reaslistic. P115 keys also "reset" faster after pressing which feels way better in faster music. But also slow, soft music really is easier to play on the P115🤷🏻‍♂️

I bought mine from Kraft Music online and they threw in an (came today) upgraded pedal & usb type B host cable for under $675 less than the ‘asking price’. Using their online chat, you can put together a bundle. They did have the keyboard in a bundle that included an x stand, bench & other goodies for $699 but I really didn’t need much of those extras. I was happy to get a better pedal, not top of the line but also not the little square that slides all over the place.

Simple answer 'YES'. No matter what, Yamahas always worth buying. Their build quality for longevity is top notch. Its been 20 Years for my PSR 275 and still works like a charm. not even a single service done. I'm planning on buying a P125 this year.

Congratulations. Yamaha products are great. The main piano tone should grow and grow on you. The speakers are rather modest though, so I recommend connecting the P-125 to some basic 5" studio monitor speakers if you're going to play it much without headphones.

I can report that the piano sound, Rhodes organ sound, and DX7-type sound (synth piano) on the P-125 are FAR superior to those of the more expensive Roland RD-88. You can't appreciate this until you hear them in person, and maybe at your own home. Sure, the P-125 doesn't have the extra variety of sounds, but if piano is what you want, then save yourself the $$ and just get the P-125.

Yes, you can, because page 16 of the MOXF6 User Manual shows the back panel has a MIDI IN 9-pin DIN connection. The problem is, the P-125 only has a USB to Host output port. Find out what you need to connect the 2 together and you’ll be in business. I recommend making a visit to your local Guitar Center. They should know what converter cable or throughput device will connect the 2 together for you. What do you hope to gain from this? The MOXF6 has a built-in audio interface and its own keyboard. If you want access to a full 88-keys, then connecting the 2 together is Step 1. Then you have to learn how to send MIDI messages to your MOXF6 from the P-125, which might entail turning on MIDI out on the P-125, with the Smart Pianist app or a combination of keystrokes. You also need to turn Local Off on your P-125, which is real easy and documented in the P-125 User Manual.

Purchased this week and the p125 definitely needs an upgrade as in my opinion the technology is really outdated. Some of the voices aren't great either. The output from the speakers is terrible and you definitely need to be able to select all functions without having to use some of the keys. It's a pain in the butt either having to connect my tablet to use the app or use the keys in order to select some functions. I'm returning to the piano after a gap of 57 years, so back to being a beginner. I'd have liked the p515, but couldn't justify the extra expense at the moment for a beginner. Hopefully a newer version of the p125 doesn't come out for a while or I will really regret my purchase. I stuck with a brand that I know and trust........hence the reason that I got this model.

Apparently there’s a P125A that no longer has some of the features. I was shopping for a lighter weight keyboard that I could haul around to Contra dances and the forerunner to this one was recommended so I went to Amazon to read the reviews. They only had a couple of this model and plenty of the newer A model. The 125 received pretty much all great reviews while the A model did not. One reviewer convinced me to go with the older version. Mine came today and I’m impressed with the sound. In addition to light weight I need a good beefy sound and action & I think this may do the job. My older keyboard is the p155 (I think) & weighs over 50# once it’s in the bag. This one weighs 25# but I haven’t bagged it yet to get a total weight but it’s definitely much lighter & will be easier on my back. I just hope it will hold up to the schlepping around it was purchased for🤞🏼.

Hmm, seems the budget is about 100 US dollars. Nihit, if you can get one of those keyboards new for under 7500 rupees, that's good. They are more expensive than that here in Europe. If you can't, well maybe you should consider a secondhand instrument. And if you want to play anything that's very pianistic, you'll need a weighted action, which these keyboards don't have. Otherwise, just having touch sensitive keys will do.

The app is very nice and powerful, but will it be usable in several years? I noticed that 2 comments mentioned using a Yamaha piano for almost 20 years. Can you imagine that this app will work in 20 years, even though the basic keyboard may work fine. Of course, we live in a disposable, throw-away society, so using this P-125 with the app for 5 to 10 years is reasonable. After that all bets may be off. P.s. I’m playing on a 104 year old Vose upright and a 96 year old Steinway model M grand. Both sound superb.

Yes, this is the Achilles heel of P125. That's why I have link to a similar Yamaha digital piano that has a big colour LCD screen without the need for an app.

Having watched ur numerous reviews made me confused. U objectively mentioned all the good and bad of each models. Is there a model with weighted keys, lcd to maneuver menus, high watt speaker and 3 pedals, wireless bluetooth to Android app mainly to practice piano. The keys of casio psx1100 and 3100 keys are too short and psx1100 doesnt have lcd, roland fp30x doesn't have lcd, yamaha p125 doesn't hv lcd and wireless bluetooth. Korg doesn't even support Android. Yamaha Dgx670 has almost all but poor speaker output. 😂. Roland p60x is expensive and doesn't include pedals and stand. If the price is above sgd 1500, i probably should just get digital piano than a digital portable piano...

If you love the tone of CFIIIS, get P125 before it is gone because most likely the newer model will be using CFX samples, not sure if it will sound good in lower P series models. But I believe functions like Bluetooth and more MIDI voices will be present in the next model. Touch screen maybe not so soon.

to explain this: arius 143 and arius 163 had the "pure cf" sound engine like the p125. but the 144 and 164 (the next gen and newest of arius series) have cfx sound engine. so he assumes that since the arius models sound is replayced by cfx sound, the p 135 will have cfx sound too.
