Yamaha PSR-2700 faulty LCD display repair tutorial

One day LCD display of Yamaha PSR-2700 stopped displaying text
It was still backlit in green, but there wasn't text displayed.
So it was difficult to see what parameters are set for song.
I have found similar problem for this keyboard and possible
solution www.yamahaforum..., which I have tried. It came out that 2 capacitors on back of LCD display were faulty.
Also the keys were not smooth anymore and I've fixed it.
Volume knob also was adding some scratches during operation - fixed.
Disassembling took about 1 hour (with making pictures).

Thank you so much for this video. I noticed my PSR 2700 display going faint but text appearing faintly the longer it was left on. Now, after being stored for a while, I checked it and the display still lights up but no text on it at all. I was wondering whether it was one of the board connectors, but well spotted on checking the forums that C1 and C2 had gone u/s. I have no problems doing the repair, have repaired many radio's using soldering so I thank you so much for taking the time and trouble of making this video and highlighting different screws and possible pitfalls a lot of us discover a little too late if we're rushing things in eagerness! I am sure that there are many of these having been scrapped because owners thought they were no good with LCD screen not functioning. Cheers!!

I replaced those caps and lcd works again. Very helpful video, I lost few screws while putting back plastic cover so be careful while assembling keyboard back.

I risked little bit, cause there was mess inside, but I made a picture of everything and now LCD display is working and keys work smoothly. I also repaired volume potentiometer as it was giving scratches. The biggest challenge was one of the legs in one ribbon, which was curved. I used small pliers and straightened it. Just make pictures which screws go where and keep them in separate containers and you shuold be good.
