Yamaha PSR-E383 keyboard tutorial

This tutorial isn't a substitute for the manual, but it sure is nice to get the basics from a person rather than a book.

Yes, in the series of Yamaha keyboards it’s only the ones that start with a number 4 that have pitch bend

I liked the 373 keybed a bit better, but they're really not that different.

Both the voice and style buttons can be used as number buttons. They have the numbers embossed on to the buttons. I haven't used one yet but I imagen you can do this with the shift key. I've also noticed that the function key can act as a number lock. Hope this helps.

Hi, I recently bought this keyboard for my daughter and see that buttons surface and screen are anti-glare, I'm not sure if this is a protective film from factory or it's actually built in this way. May you confirm if yours is the same? Thanks!

@@amusic9825 1. Category Button : I was expecting that, we got category button exactly like psr e473, but in e383 category button is different for style and voice which i don't like personally. Although this is a good change, but the size of the button is very small. If they implement category button like psr e473 then might be they provide comparably larger button in psr e383 for category section. 2. Pitch Bend Wheel : In this price we don't get pitch bend wheel yet. This is very disappointed thing for me. 3. Overall Look : The psr e383 is looking like casio tone cts 200 or cts 300. Although due to reduce in overall dimension it takes less space compare to its previous model. But the look of this keyboard is very bad (personally). It is looking like a box. The width of the upper layout of the keyboard is very short. 4. Registration : Still we got only 10 slots for registration. At least they have to provide bank system with at least 4 slots & 4 banks. In current registration system, still we require 2 button presses to change our registration settings (at least they have to change this thing).

All fair comments, though I should point out that I was wrong about the 10 slots for user sounds. I think it was actually 8 banks of 10 slots each. I'd have to check that. But yes I think you've made a few good points there.

@@gearfacts thank you sar, I was eagerly waiting for this keyboard since october by assuming that above chances will made by yamaha into the new psr e383. But i was wrong. Now i have considered PSR I300. It has few downsides like registration, category button and position of Articulation button. But still it is manageable for me.

Can you show us the harpsichord sound please? @DJIncendration and i would want to know how it sounds because me and him were very disappointed in the harpsichord on the e473 not being good.

Yeah. The harpsichord are extremely terrible on PSRE. They should change that too.

There is one harpsichord sound played in the main demo I uploaded but I agree with the other comment - they're not a highlight of the 383.

@@gearfacts so that means the harpsichord sound is not updated still? I guess ill have to see if the 483 gets a new harpsichord sample or else i might just end up getting the sx600 instead if the harpsichord is still the ancient sample

@DavidPhillipCat I think the PSRE was made to be excruciatingly and deliberately shitty, so people will buy SX keyboards instead.
