If the equipment sounds like shit but the player is good, well the player is good, that's great but when you hear it still sounds like crap due to the sound quality of the keyboard. I purchased the Yamaha PSR-SX900 last December and I am very pleased with it. The Bluetooth feature is very handy for audio recording and/or just playing along with streamed content. I also have a Yamaha MOTIF XS6, so I know I have the best of both worlds. Right now, the PSR is very hard to find in the US because of the IC chip shortage, as with other Yamaha models.

Manufacturers on the whole are not too keen to make it known models will be replaced too far in advance as it would effect sales. (Some keep quiet until actual release date). Though It looks to me like the replacement for the PSR-SX700 and SX900 are coming out later on in 2024. Within months I'd say, Sept/Oct/Nov time. Announcement at least. The biggest USA dealer has stopped stocking these two SX models since June 2024 and of the big 3 EU retailers we have the following as of end of July 2024: Retailer 1, PSR-SX600 and SX700 in stock. Retailer 2, just the PSR-SX600 in stock. Retailer 3, all three models in stock but at substantial reductions, SX600 is £559, SX700 is £895, SX900 is £1759. (All in low numbers of stock, looking likely the SX700 and SX900 could be the last stock they'll have). So likely y'all be too late to get such a bargain. I notice some UK retailers do not have new SX700 &/or SX900's for sale at all. I suspect it'll be just the PSR-SX 700 and 900 that are replaced in 2024, leaving the PSR-SX 600 in place until early 2025. All a part of marketing and sales. The hope likely being that existing PSR-SX600 owners will upgrade to the SX700 or even the SX900 (replacement!) when in a buzz of excitement they come out. See how it works! The thing is if all 3 models were replaced at the same time some SX600 owners may just upgrade to the SX600 replacement. (The SX600 btw came out in 2020 one year after the SX700 and SX900, so may well stick to that pattern). I predict along with the SX600 replacement coming in early 2025 the 88 key DGX-670 will also be replaced around the same time. That model is getting old as well, though it looks a decent enough piece of kit. Then after all that possibly mid to end of 2025 the PSR-E473 and PSR-EW425 replacements may well come out. With of cause there likely being the hope that just after the PSR-SX600 replacement is released the owners of those two lesser keyboards just mentioned upgrade in the mean time to the SX600 replacement. It has to be all worked out in advance, planned out, production dates planned out, with retailers more than likely knowing why they cannot get hold of an existing keyboard, from experience, because it'll soon be replaced. BUT, even knowing that, had they some of the old stock in stock, the customer would likely not be told of an imminent new release. Unless they were a long time customer. Some dealers would do that, the dealer just being glad to shift the last stock out the way, then restock in a fanfare with the new sexy models. Such a customer who was not informed could end up feeling 'cheated', having ponied up all that substantial amount of money and maybe ending up walking away feeling 'buyers regret'. Wishing they had instead got the newer model. I feel for them already! What would that dealer say if asked?, "Oh no, we we were not informed either", could be a reply, how could anyone prove otherwise?. Trust could be lost, risking the loss of repeat sales, repeat sales being something the dealer would prefer but selling each and every product in stock is the main concern. Getting the item sold, being the priority for many of them. Along with customer satisfaction and other factors to be fair. I just say, if purchasing such a costly instrument as a PSR-SX700 do your due diligence. A decent enough bit of gear, I wouldn't mind one, though I would sooner have its imminent replacement. Not wanting that 'missing out' feeling. Though of cause initially there would be a missing out of £hundreds, due to the price difference. We'll just have to see. I do though bet on a mid to late Sept 2024 announcement with retailers getting new stock prior to Xmas 2024.

Thank you very much for the demonstration; though I'm still struggling through the pile of all keyboard demos along youtube channels. They all seem to have one common point missing ehich is that no one explaining **clearly and sharply** which keyboard is most suitable for which purpose? I know the fact that each user has their own needs and also each device can be (at least theoretically) used for all purposes too, but I also belive that there is a good / proper use for each device according to its design target just like a school bus vs. hatchback vs. convertible; each can take to school but on quite different (or smilar ?) ways... So consider the rough keyboard categories : 1- digital grand pianos 2- digital portable pianos 3- digital portable grands (DGX) 4- synthesizers 5- arranger workstations like Tyros, Genos 6- all purpose pro devices like PSR-SX900 7- all purpose beginners / amateurs like PSR-EW463 And consider the following use scenerios : 1- Classical Concert Live (pro) 2- Pop Rock R&B Jazz Concert Live (pro) 3- Live entertainment in Weddings, Clubs and Parties 4- Studio Recording for an album of any genre 5- Music Composition 6- Music Teaching and Learning 7- Home entertainment Now can someone point me which devices best fit into which categories from each brand ?
@jerryspencer79164 жыл бұрын
Hi Rip! Thank you for your VERY WELL ANALYZED comment/question. I also am trying to decide which keyboard would best meet my needs. There is a huge choice of types from several manufacturers and it seems confusing. After reading a lot of posts on the internet my conclusion is that there is not an ultimate answer to this dilemma. There are some good choices and bad choices, both with pros and cons. At this point in my search I have begun making a list of the qualities which are important to me now, and this list may change in the future, as I gain more keyboard skills. At this time I want the following in a portable instrument: 1) - very high quality sound 2) - a nice grand piano sound 3) - a nice organ sound 4) - and possibly most important of all - a beautiful orchestra strings sound 5) - high quality individual strings, such as violin, viola, cello, harp and concert guitar 6) - the ability to layer various sounds 7) - a nice selection of rhythm accompaniment 8) - self contained speakers 9) - very important and often overlooked - a brand from a company which honors its warranty . . . integrity is paramount! And now for the things which I would prefer to not have: 1) - blue tooth 2) - many of the high-tech computer related features 3) - unnecessary complication 4) - electric guitar sounds 5) - 900+ voices I would much prefer to have 50 or so BEAUTIFUL, HIGH QUALITY voices instead of 900+ average or mediocre sounding voices (quality over quantity). As you can notice, I am not a fan of endless high tech, computer related features. I want to play beautiful music for myself and my friends. When possible, I much prefer simplicity over complication. I consider myself a music lover not a computer geek. I have described my wish list in order to show you my thought process. Yours will be different because your needs/desires are different. But we are both doing the same thing - analyzing what is important in a keyboard and what is not important in a keyboard. I don't think there is a PERFECT answer to the perfect keyboard, ONLY COMPROMISES, with some better than others. A good starting point is making a spreadsheet with all the keyboards you know of or have read of, listing the main qualities. And then begin eliminating some possibilities because of their cost and features you don't want. Also consider the reputation of the manufacturer, the availability of service if needed and why certain models are popular. I have read that many musicians feel that Kawai has a higher quality, more realistic sound than Yamaha when comparing keyboards in the same general price range. In the final analysis there is no substitute for research. I have listed some helpful websites for making this decision. I hope my ideas are helpful to you. Best wishes in your journey of discovery. @@jerryspencer7916 Hello Jerry! It's good to know that we share a common point of view on the variety of the available devices and brands. And thank you very much for pointing out the buying guides. Although I'm aware of most of the features that define and distingusih different categories of keyboards, I will definetely benefit from more research. What I'm more looking for is the assessment of a a keyboard from an professional and artistic value point, and may be more importantly about which instrument is used in which commercial album's recording... I've finally one solid conclusion though: playing a keyboard better is more important than playing a better keyboard... :-)
@Panos-Veria4 жыл бұрын
@@4thesakeofitname ""about which instrument is used in which commercial album's recording...""" Hm....probably they are just using a DAW, a mouse, their computer keyboard and a midi keyboard or a real studio with many types of keyboards, instruments and musicians :) If you want a good piano sound you buy a digital piano with weighted keys. If you want to create sounds you are buying a synthesizer. If you want to play with styles you are buying a keyboard with styles. If you want to have all of these you have to buy 3 different types of instruments and connect them. So you can use the better keybed of the digital piano,for the right hand the sounds of the synthesizer and for the accompaniment the styles of the keyboard with styles.

Bought a Yamaha Montage 8 last year and played it maybe 3 or 4 hours. Bought a Yamaha MOX6 a couple of weeks ago and it's still in the box. Bought it in hoping that I could take it to the church where I am organist since it's much lighter weight than the Montage 8. But ... after hearing this keyboard, I wonder if I made the wrong decision. Can't afford the PSR 900, but this one seems to do everything the PSR 900 does (same with the Montage MOX6, a smaller version of the Montage 8 ... I guess a Montage, Jr.). What do you think? I must congratulate you on your videos, plus the very good impression you give of Bonner's Music as a company to deal with. I'm in Australia and have excellent dealers here, but if I lived in the UK I suspect I would be dealing with you. While I am pro Yamaha, I must admit that with their keyboards, Yamaha have been falling behind the rest of the market in features and value for money, but now with the 700 and 900 models here, have re-established their market standing for arranger keyboards. It can be argued that Korg can provide even better value, but the complexity of their design approach and interface, plus the presence of some pro features really make them instruments for a different market. I'm eagerly waiting on delivery of my SX900 (initial stocks here sold very rapidly). [PS. Must admit one or two comments here have me scratching my head?]

There are many musicians, including hobby musicians like myself, who really like the many features which modern day electronics make possible. I really appreciate the light weight and portability of a keyboard, also there are never any expensive tuning sessions which a real piano needs quite often to sound really good. Changes in humidity can affect the beautiful sounds of a piano. Also, in general, mechanical things wear out much sooner than electronic things .

Help i need suggestion for a keyboard. I really like s art voices but i never use styles. So i feel buying a psr keyboard is way too overkill for me. Is there a better alternative for me? Im finding one which sounds as realistic as possible, especially on piano and other orchestral instruments

What you can say between this Yamaha psr sx700 compared to the Korg Pa 700
@Misigun994 жыл бұрын
Same problem here, I can't make a decision. It seems like the SX700 has a better user interface and has more styles than the Pa700 but lacks a lot of sounds and the vocal harmonizer. Also the Pa700 has a more powerful speaker and a video output.

Yamaha is marketing this as a digital workstation, but this demonstration makes me think it’s just an entertainer keyboard....

How can I get some decent stuff on keyboard not ballroom rubbish
@LittleRichard19882 жыл бұрын
It is possibly to create your own sequences without using auto accompaniments. I hardly ever use auto accompaniments unless I'm playing and arranging Christmas carols or know the song well enough to use an auto accompaniment. But for the most part I sequence everything including the drums by hand. You see arranger keyboards are not just for old farts playing ballroom music or playing at a wedding party they can also be used by producers.
