Had it but sold it… having no MIDI control and no FX while I only had a single cassette recorder was quite a constraint. But the versatility of the sound engine still stands, if properly mixed.

Tengo un Yamaha PSS-780 y 2 (DOS!) Yamaha PSS-390 (creería que idénticos al PSS 380). Uno de estos últimos, fue el primer teclado que me compré (en 1990 o 1991), sin saber aún sobre el concepto de sintetizar los sonidos... sobre los synthes, bah. En ese tiempo escuchaba mucho "Lo que Vendrá" de Charly García y "Themes" de Vangelis, entre otras cosas, y cuando probé las posibilidades que tenía para emular esos sonidos en esa pequeña bestia, no dudé en hacerme de él. Repito, no sabía que tenía en mis manos un instrumento TAN versátil en cuanto a la paleta de colores que podía propiciarle a cada sonido, activando la opción de "Digital Synthesizer". Pero aún así supe que era el indicado para mí. Hice muchas canciones, maquetas y hasta grabaciones para discos con distintas bandas. En la actualidad sigo usando el segundo PSS-390 que compré hace como dos años (ya que el primero estaba para jubilarlo), además de un Roland Juno G, una máquina de ritmos Roland R-8 y el PSS-780, en los sets de mi banda "Dr Spectrum". Gracias por el video y las referencias en cuanto a la configuración del "Digital Synthesizer"... no puedo dejar de ver este video...

Cool, thanks for watching :) Yes, I had a PSS580 when I was a kid and didn't appreciate the full value of the "digital synthesizer" section, I just knew it was a lot of fun having that much control over the sounds. Thanks for sharing the Dr Spectrum video - subscribed!

I would like to ask 2 questions, if somebody would like to answer owning a ps 380. 1st, a minor problem with mine. I have bought 2. The both have a an echo, pretty quietly on the sound. I assume this is normal, but is it and Can it be fixed, sonthere's no sound following the intended sound. 2 is there a midi in mod for this thing? And maybe a modulation mod with more steps and a second voice modulation option?

Thanks. Yes, i sampled individual drum hits to make the main beat. The end bit layers a couple of existing internal rhythms through FX.

The PSS-790 does, but it’s a different type of synth. No sliders but a 4 operator vector synth and PCM drums. Whilst not having midi sucks, it does teach you to get better at actually playing everything live.

Hey does the pss 380 have the Soundblaster chip? If not what does it use?

Yes, for the main (simple) beat. Later in the track, I layered up some of the 380's rhythms over the top and added FX.
