Yamaha PSS-480 House Demo FM Synth

8 years later and I'm totally here for it! Nice little jam! I recently (2023) picked up a PSS-480 and am really enjoy it!

Unaware of the rest of the world I just made this discovery myself too - house test uploaded before I saw this. Amazing real synthesizer, 16 part multi, velocity reception, program changes - all on a so called toy keyboard, well I have to reprogram my mind because this is as related to the midi history as the ESQ-1 or whatever, we just never realised this back in the day. These keyboards will be the next house wave after the 30 year 909/303/808/101 frenzy - this is the 2020 vintage synth to get. Just the right dirt to go with today's ultra clean DAW environments. I am in love with it. It's like a FB01/81Z with 505 type drums in one box. Mindblowing really.

Hello there, Mission accomplished! I just got a Yamaha PSS 480 just 3 days ago, and I'm glad to learn how to use it, especially for this purpose: House music.

Amazing track! Very nice house demo! The PSS 480 is really a powerful little unit! Interesting to read that the PSS 480 is basically the same as the 470, just with added MIDI on board, great!

It's cool to see what's possible with a Yamaha PSS-480, I have the PSS-680 which was the next model up. The sounds and synth part are the same but the inernal drum machine has extra sounds as well as drum pads under the keyboard plus a few other features.

I've got a PSS 850, exactly the same machine as this, just diferent color knobs. I'm doing some songs with it now. Very funny!

Very, very nice! An observation, though: the 480 isn't a MIDI equipped version of the PSS-470. They work using different chips.

Hi very good production you are creating. I have a PSS-580 that is the same as the 480. I am attempting to play arpeggios from another keyboard and attempting to get the 580 to play arpeggios via midi but to no avail. I have midi out from the other keyboard that has arpeggios to midi in on 580. The midi signal is being received as when I play notes there is a response. Do you happen to know how I can have arpeggio play on the 580 from the other keyboard? Thank you.

bestrickie2 It's in local off mode if used multitibrally. I tried arpeggios from Reason and it's awesome and very responsive just like your 1080, Proteus, TX81Z or whatever you know of. Incredible.

You need to use another keyboard that outputs midi and switch the pss the correct midi settings
