I think the difference is that A50 does not have velocity dependent lowpass filter on the piano. Compared to A50 low velocity notes are lowpass filtered on Reface.

In a Japanese YouTubr video, the reviewer says the Rhodes sound in the Reface is from the Yamaha CP1.

They both sound good. Hard to say for sure if they sound different as it's tough to hit both keybeds with the same velocity. Would need to play them both over midi with an external keyboard, record out the audio in a DAW and compare those sounds to know if they use the same or different samples.

Yeah playing through the midi the same think would be more exact, but i think this is enough to show how similar they sound in typical situation. After all this hidden piano in reface CP is OK but not as good as official voices which are superb quality of a pro stage piano.

Are they keys on the Reface larger than on the PSS A50, or is that just lens distortion on the video?

Its the lens. They are the same - not only size, but also its the same keyboard and only difference is the matt finish on the PSS a50

I have both keyboards, the reface is much better in sound quality, the A50 piano is somewhat more nasal and bright, the reface piano is more elaborate....

@@insolacion1978 i agree that all the other voices in reface cp are just different Class than a50 (reface is pro quality), and the preamp on the both line and phone output is better on reface. Speaking about acustic piano i would also agree on pss a50 is more bright and nadal but other than that its the same base samples just played on better preamp/dac. Also on reface you can put nice reverb and other effects and it will sound much better. On pss a50 you have only base built in reverb. The bigger difference is between this sound and other CP patches than between acoustic piano on a50 and reface

Another midi keyboard with midi only hidden sampled sounds lol! The Roland Gaia has the same thing. I think the sounds both are the same only the CP has touch response and the A-50 does not?

@@jtdiffen Hi! I bought the A50 and unfortunately, it’s not a CP-80 voice (I own a real CP-80). It’s a standard electric piano voice.

@@crabbydad8931 maybe in pss a50 as the reface cp there is no sensie of pitch bending with piano patches. As a modwheel you van one of effects pot (chorus or tremolo)

Not enough difference to justify the price difference! Even moreso, PSS-F30 cf. Reface CP !!

depends on a tone. The acoustic piano is a hidden easter egg in reface, all other tones on CP (electric pianos) are way above PSS A50. But yes if someone is looking for the acoustic piano sound i would advice to buy pss a50. PSS f30 doesn't have touch response keybed :( but has more tones ant auto accompaniament. Seems like Yamaha doesn't want us to get everything at once.
