Yamaha QY10 + AKAI S3000XL + New tracks and new project in the making !

When making music, and not using a computer, I work with this very interesting sequencer from the 90s: the Yamaha QY10 !
Is it a synth ? Or a MIDI recorder ? Or a drum machine ? Who knows ?

Great stuff! I still have mine. I quickly got a QY20 when it came out and my band mate and I wrote a ton or songs on it. You can hear a bunch of them on my channel if you are interested. Your videos are really cool and your music is very good!

@@StephanesCreativeBasement thank you very much! Yeah we are so spoiled these days with our iPads and Ableton LINK, etc. Back when I was using the Qy20 we would sequence a song and then play alone with guitars and keyboards and record it all live. No multi tracking back then.

Good afternoon... drumming parts in akai is a multi-track that is set in loop mode?

Hi Alex ! Yes, you can work in loop mode (I go this way when working, let’s say, with the Portastudio cassette recorder) but in the video, everything is triggered by Logic (and I use 5 MIDI channels/tracks).

@@StephanesCreativeBasement I drew completely arrangement of 8 loop in a midi of 8 channels with automation of the filter and loudness but as draw music it turns out quantized and not live... your way with an analog mixer is more creative and more interesting music more live and infinite options of arrangement which in manual you won't draw on a midi.

and reels do not collect sounds in the program in akai?.. let's allow in channel 10 midi.. and also Logic to run?... And changing the tone of the program with sounds and changing the tone of loop is a different effect?

yamaha qy 22,70,100....are they worse than 10?

Yes, you can route multiple programs/samples to an output (there’s 8), so you can use a lot of MIDI channels and route them to the output of your choice. I always work with only 5 programs/samples routed to only 5 outputs. It’s more simple this way and, also, less is more ! About the QY10, it’s a very good sequencer and I never used the other models so, for me, the QY10 wins !
