I had a 17 s1000rr and just recently bought a 22 r1. One thing I definitely miss from the s1000rr was the crazy backfires I would get when I redline the engine at full throttle. I didn't know it was possible to get it done with a tune. I'll definitely be hitting Moore mafia for my tune.

Absolutely doable with a tune, all it is, is after fire. OR After burn if you will. The extra unburnt fuel from a rich (usually the much safer tune than a super lean higher power one) tune, burning in the hot exhaust. Go look at some Mazda Rx7 builds and you'll see tons of it, as the rotary engine needs to run extra fat pig rich tunes in order to make crazy power (they are much like a jet engine in that way). Some people call it "back fire" but that is incorrect, back fire is when the combustion comes out of the intake, backwards from the normal operation of the engine... Hence "Back" Fire. This often results in burnt valves, blown intake manifolds, Or even shitting a piston. Basically the engine is in near catastrophic failure territory if its back firing.

Mine was very close, 2015 R1 got 184bhp tuned by PCR Performance UK... In the middle of summer they said they might of got a couple more power in cooler temperatures 👌🏾 not bad for a standard R1 but I believe they have the same ECU I could be wrong.
